Former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink says Leicester have not approached him about their vacant manager position but he is open to talks with the reigning Premier League champions.
Leicester have assistant manager Craig Shakespeare in interim charge after sacking Claudio Ranieri last week just nine months after the Italian led the club to the Premier League title.
Shakespeare is a candidate to take on the role until the end of the season, while former England manager Roy Hodgson is also a name that has been linked to the job, but Hiddink, who has been out of work since the end of last season, has revealed he would be open to the job.
“I think Leicester has done very well by going with the assistant manager after Ranieri’s dismissal,” Hiddink told de Telegraaf, via London Evening Standard. “They proved themselves against Liverpool. I had no contact with Leicester.
“I have so much love for football that I do not exclude it. I never go to a club for several years, but I think it’s great to be working with young people.”
Hiddink, 70, was made Chelsea manager until the end of the season in December 2015 after Jose Mourinho was sacked.
He took over the then-reigning Premier League champions with them only one point above the bottom three before steering them up to 10th. In his time as manager, no team managed more draws in the Premier League than Chelsea (11).
