Aston Villa turn attention to Liverpool striker

Aston Villa have entered the race to sign Liverpool starlet Rhian Brewster, claims The Sun.

Dean Smith is franctically looking to sign a new striker after missing out on Callum Wilson to Newcastle in a £20m deal.

Villa have already had attempts to sign Chelsea's Tammy Abraham and Celtic's Odsonne Edouard knocked back and have now made their interest in Brewster clear.

Despite missing a penalty in their Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, Brewster was one of Liverpool better performers during pre-season.

As a result Jurgen Klopp has not yet decided whether to keep Brewster in his first-team squad for the new season or let him get regular playing time elsewhere.

Brewster was a revelation during a six-month loan spell at Swansea last season and will not be short of suitors if made available for transfer this summer.

While Liverpool would most likely prefer a loan deal for Brewster, Villa are even prepared to test their resolve with a £20m offer.

Brewster, who played a lead role in England's U17 World Cup triumph in 2017, scored 10 goals in 19 league games (excluding play-offs) for Swansea during the second half of last season.

In fact, from the date Brewster made his Swansea debut only Brentford's Said Benrhama scored more goals in the Championship than the 20-year-old.
