Tottenham back in for young Argentine defender

Tottenham have rekindled their interest in Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth with Paris Saint-Germain struggling to get a deal over the line, reports The Guardian.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were interested in signing the Argentine defender at the start of the summer but appeared to have missed out on the 19-year-old following interest from PSG.

Foyth was widely expected to join the Ligue 1 giants in a deal worth in the region of £9m but that deal appears to have gone cold in recent week, allowing Tottenham back in the race.

Despite shattering their club transfer record to land Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez on Friday, Tottenham are still interested in signing the teenager centre-back and are now in advanced talks with his club.

Tottenham are expected to be one of the busiest teams in the transfer window this month as Pochettino eyes several new signings following a very quiet summer at the club up until Sanchez’s arrival.

Only Luis Olivera (3) made more tackles per game than Foyth (2.7) of teenagers in the Argentine Primera Division last season.
