Sunderland are not in talks with Paris Saint-Germain to sign right-back Serge Aurier contrary to reports that have emerged from British press on Friday, claim Get French Football.
The Sun have linked Sam Allardyce’s side with a move for the controversial right-back whose time at PSG looks to be coming to an end following a heavily turbulent campaign.
The club suspended Aurier last season following derogatory remarks made towards manager Laurent Blanc and former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sunderland were alleged to be making the most of the situation in an attempt to bolster their squad after avoiding relegation last season.
However, those claims are wide of the mark according to those in France and Aurier will not be moving to Sunderland.
Despite his off-field problems, Aurier is still one of the most revered full-backs in Europe and any move to Sunderland would have been a real coup for Allardyce’s men.
Aurier finished last season as PSG’s fourth highest rated player (7.75) and no player to have made at least 15 appearances in Ligue 1 averaged more tackles and interceptions combined than the Ivory Coast international (7.4).
