Bournemouth have announced Tyrone Mings has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal.
Mings has endured a turbulent time at Bournemouth since joining from Ipswich in the summer of 2015 and news of a new contract is a great show of faith from the Cherries.
“The first two years of my time wasn’t an easy one, with trying to get in the team and getting injured on my debut,” Mings told the club’s official website.
“But I came out of it the other end, had a bit of a run in the team last year and feel like I am in a good place now. I’m over the moon to be staying.”
The 24-year-old suffered a serious knee injury on debut for Bournemouth that ruled him out for the entire 2016/17 campaign, while he was only fit enough to play seven times in the league last season.
Mings, who only had two years remaining on his previous deal, was also hit with a five-game ban after appearing to stamp on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s head during Bournemouth’s clash with Manchester United at the start of March.
The former Ipswich academy graduate has started in two of Bournemouth’s three league games this season, but Howe’s side are yet to win and haven’t even scored in that period.
Bournemouth have failed to win any of the six league games Mings has started for the club, compared to a 34.3% win ratio when he has not started.
