Paris Saint-Germain sporting director in London for Sanchez talks
Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique is in London to wrap up a deal for Arsenal wantaway striker Alexis Sanchez, reports French news outlet Le Parisien.
The Ligue 1 giants have moved ahead of Manchester City in the race to land the Chile international after Arsenal ruled out his departure to another Premier League rival this summer.
Sanchez has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal and has confirmed he wants to leave Arsenal and play for a club in the Champions League, although Arsene Wenger is willing to keep him even if it means losing him or nothing next summer.
Despite the fact he can leave on a free in 12 months, Arsenal will still be able to command in the region of £50m for the 28-year-old after establishing himself as one of the best players in the Premier League since joining from Barcelona in 2014.
PSG have set out a hugely ambitious summer of signing Barcelona star Neymar and Sanchez in a bid to improve their chances of winning the Champions League and appear to be making good progress in both transfers.
Sanchez has not returned to pre-season training with Arsenal yet after he was given an extended break off the back of Chile’s participation in the Confederations Cup earlier this summer.
In 38 Premier League appearances last season, Sanchez played a direct hand in 34 goals (24 goals, 10 assists) and finished as the second highest WhoScored rated player in the division (7.76 rating).
However, only Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha was dispossessed as may times in the Premier League last season than Sanchez (both 128).
