After a commendable start to the season, the expert will be out to improve on his score from last week and the task for you – the user – is to get the better of WhoScored’s fantasy football specialist over at MondoGoal.

Using the delegated £100m budget, the expert has chosen an XI he thinks will gain maximum points this weekend. Think you can do better? Then why not enter a cash league for the chance to win some great prizes.

JACK BUTLAND

The England U21 captain could be set for a busy afternoon at Carrow Road when Stoke meet a Norwich outfit who will have their tails. Stoke have been unusually suspect at the back in their opening two games and are likely to need Butland to be on form in order to keep a bouncing Cannaries side subdued. Only four goalkeepers have made more saves than Butland (7) in the league this season and more of the same will see the keeper rack up the points this weekend.

LUKE SHAW

Manchester United finally look to be getting the performances from Shaw that were expected when they spent nearly £30m on his services last summer. The Red Devils are one of just three sides yet to concede in the Premier League and come up against a Newcastle outfit stumbling along under Steve McClaren. Not only should Shaw get points for a clean sheet, but he also possess a dangerous threat going forward having linked superbly well with Memphis Depay midweek.

AARON CRESSWELL

The former Ipswich town left-back enjoyed a thoroughly impressive debut season at West Ham last year, picking up the club’s player of the season award. Not only is the 25-year-old solid defensively, he also provides West Ham with an outlet going forward. In fact, only two of his West Ham teammates average more key passes per game than Cresswell (1) this season, which isn’t surprising when you consider that only three defenders made more key passes in the Premier League last season than Cresswell (35).

ASHLEY WILLIAMS

The Swansea captain has been one of the league’s most consistent performers in recent years. In fact, no player has blocked more shots (129) in the last three Premier League seasons and he has developed into a fantasy football user favourite. Williams should not have any problems dealing with a toothless Sunderland attack, who will probably be penned into their own half for the majority of the match.

RIYAD MAHREZ

The Algeria international has started the season in sensational fashion, following up his perfect 10 WhoScored rating with a rating of 8.75 in their last outing. Leicester’s run of taking 28 points from a possible 33 has to end soon, but with Mahrez in this kind of form, it is hard to see a medicore Spurs side matching the pace and fearlessness of Mahrez and his teammates.

DAVID SILVA

The Manchester City midfielder’s explosive start to the season suggests he really enjoyed having his first full summer off from the stress of international football since 2011. No player has had a more direct hand in their team’s goals this season than Silva (4) and if he is afforded the room against an expansive Everton side, he could cause carnage in behind an electric Sergio Aguero.

ANDRE AYEW

The former Marseille winger has slotted in at Swansea effortlessly and will be tasked with facing a Sunderland defensive line that Sky Sports’ Gary Neville likened to something you would see in lower league football. The 25-year-old has scored in both of Swansea’s opening two fixtures and will chomping at the bit when he faces up against a Sunderland side with the worst defensive record in the division (7).

XHERDAN SHAQIRI

If Shaqiri can come close to replicating the form he showed at the 2014 World Cup, then Stoke look to have signed a fantastic prospect for years to come. The Switzerland international hasn’t featured prominently on the domestic scene since his exploits in Brazil last summer, but could be the lift the Potters need to claim their first league win of the season. In Brazil, no player averaged more key passes than Shaqiri (4.3).

WAYNE ROONEY

The Manchester United captain is having a woeful time of it at the moment. Rooney has only managed more than one shot on target in a game on one occasion in 2015 and hasn’t netted for United since the start of April. However, the rot has to stop at some point and an underperforming Newcastle side may prove to be the perfect opportunity to end his hoodoo in front of goal. The 29-year-old has scored 12 goals against Newcastle, a feat bettered against only two other teams. Rooney is also averaging 2 key passes per game, which is more than any of his teammates in the league this season.

DIAFRA SAKHO

The West Ham striker is yet to hit the heights of last season  - where he finished as the Hammers’ top goal scorer (10) – but he could find his rhythm up against league minnows Bournemouth. The Cherries have been dealt a harsh lesson in Premier League football during their first two matches in England’s top-flight and if they don’t get to grips with Sakho’s aerial presence then he could profit at the weekend.

ALEXIS SANCHEZ

Despite taking Chile to Copa America glory in the summer, Sanchez is already back in Premier League action and remarkably performing near his best. He was unfortunate not to get on the score sheet last time out and will fancy his chances up against a suspect Dejan Lovren and an 18-year-old Joe Gomez. No player is averaging more shots per game in the Premier League this season than the Chilean (5.5) and and that could spell bad news for Petr Cech who looks to be short of confidence following an unexpectedly poor start.
