LaLiga Team of the Month: Hazard, Messi and Benzema make the cut

 

Here we run through the WhoScored Team of the Month for November in LaLiga.

 

Goalkeeper: Jasper Cillessen (Valencia) - 7.29 rating

 

Valencia won three of their four league matches in November and Jasper Cillessen played a key role between the sticks. In fact, only two shot-stoppers made more saves than the Netherlands international in LaLiga last month (16) and he was one of only two goalkeepers to save a penalty in the division.

 

Right-back: Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid) - 7.48 rating

 

Dani Carvajal finished the month on a high with his first goal of the season in Real Madrid's 2-1 win away to Alaves on Saturday. The Spain international registered a WhoScored rating above 7.00 in all four league appearances in November and completed 12 tackles in that time.

 

Centre-back: Raphael Varane (Real Madrid) - 7.33 rating

 

Raphael Varane helped Real Madrid to two clean sheets in his three league appearances in November with 17 clearances, six tackles and interceptions combined and eight aerial duels won.

 

Centre-back: Ximo Navarro (Alaves) - 7.20 rating

 

Alaves won twice and lost 2-1 to Real Madrid with Ximo Navarro starting in the league last month. The Alaves centre-back won 12 aerial duels across his three league appearances and made 20 clearances. He combined for 13 tackles and interceptions combined.

 

Left-back: Alex Moreno (Real Betis) - 7.44 rating

 

Alex Moreno garnered a WhoScored rating above 7.00 in all three of his November appearances in LaLiga, concluding the month with an assist in a 2-1 home win over Valencia. The 26-year-old registered seven key passes in three games, four more than in his previous eight league games combined. He also completed as many dribbles in that time.

Right wing: Lionel Messi (Barcelona) - 8.66 rating

 

Lionel Messi is the WhoScored Player of the Month for November in LaLiga after claiming two WhoScored Man of the Match awards in three appearances. Messi only garnered a WhoScored rating below 9.00 in one match and finished November with a direct hand in five goals, including a hat-trick against Celta Vigo - more than any other player. In total, Messi completed 10 dribbles and registered 11 key passes.

 

Central midfield: Nabil Fekir (Real Betis) - 8.36 rating

 

Nabil Fekir finished November with successive WhoScored Man of the Match awards to make our best rated XI. The Real Betis ace scored one goal, while registering four key passes and completing 11 dribbles. Fekir drew seven fouls and made nine tackles and interceptions combined.

 

Central midfield: Andre-Frank Anguissa (Villarreal) - 7.60 rating

 

Andre-Frank Anguissa finished November with a goal and the WhoScored Man of the Match award in Villarreal's 2-1 defeat to Valencia. The former Fulham midfielder ranked joint-top for possession won in the midfield third in LaLiga last month (24) and completed nine dribbles to help drive Villarreal forward from midfield.

 

Left wing: Eden Hazard (Real Madrid) - 8.33 rating

 

Eden Hazard finally discovered his best form for Real Madrid in November only for his month to be ended prematurely by injury. The Belgium international's WhoScored rating only dropped below 8.00 in one of three league appearances last month, as he completed at least five more dribbles than any other player in the division (23). Furthermore, only two players, both of whom made an extra appearance, were fouled more times than Hazard (12).

 

Striker: Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) - 7.68 rating

 

Karim Benzema is thriving in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo and played a direct hand in four goals in as many league appearances last month (three goals, one assist). In fact, only Messi was more decisive than the Madrid striker in LaLiga in November. Benzema racked up 19 shots across his four games, completed six dribbles and registered five key passes.

 

Striker: Joselu (Alaves) - 7.65 rating

 

Alaves striker Joselu completes the XI after scoring three goals in four league matches last month, notably coming off the bench and scoring twice in 17 minutes to secure a 2-0 win away to Eibar. The 29-year-old also won more aerial duels than any other player in the division in November (25).
