Championship round-up: Swansea pair make the cut in top-rated XI
Following a three-match winless run, Swansea returned to winning ways with a comprehensive 3-0 win over QPR. The Swans were hugely effective going forward and resolute at the back to put three vital points on the board as they ended gameweek 10 just outside the top-6 on goal difference only.
Connor Roberts and Oliver McBurnie were the stars of the show for the Swans, who doubled their home goal tally for the season in an impressive 90 minute showing. Young forward Courtney Baker-Richardson got the ball rolling early on, with strike teammate McBurnie the provider for the Swans’ opening goal. It was the first of two assists for the Scottish forward in the comfortable victory, with his two assists coming from two key passes.
Two successful dribbles, two tackles and four aerial duels won contributed to a commendable WhoScored rating of 8.56. Landing the man of the match award with a WhoScored rating of 8.92, though, was Roberts, who excelled at right wing-back in the victory. The Wales international bagged Swansea’s second with 15 minutes to play, his goal coming from two shots, while one key pass, two dribbles and four tackles was a fine return for Roberts.
However, pipping the pair to top spot in the player ratings this week is Birmingham City striker Lukas Jutkiewicz. The 29-year-old churned out a man of the match display in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Ipswich, landing a WhoScored rating of 9.10. He netted twice in the stalemate, his two goals coming from six shots, while 10 aerial duels won, one key pass and one tackle meant Jutkiewicz was good value for his man of the match accolade.
Propping up the player ratings table is Brentford goalkeeper Daniel Bentley, who endured an afternoon to forget in a 2-2 draw with Reading. After a strong start to the season, the Bees have started to falter, failing to win in three, with Bentley a huge reason for their struggles on Saturday. Reading mustered only four shots on target in the draw, with the Brentford goalkeeper making just two saves, all the while committing two errors that led to goals from Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and John Swift. Yoann Barbet’s late equaliser spared Bentley’s blushes, but he still earned the worst WhoScored rating of the weekend with a 4.41.
