Resurgent Barcelona star heads La Liga March team of the month

After a dire start to the season, Barcelona have begun to look back to their best following Xavi's appointment at the beginning of November. Indeed, had the season started following the Spaniard's return to Camp Nou, the Blaugrana would be second in La Liga, four points off rivals Real Madrid with a game in hand.

In March, along with Atletico Madrid, they were one of two teams to boast a 100% record in La Liga as Barcelona earned nine points from three games, scoring 10 times in the process, four of which came in a Clasico win at the Bernabeu prior to the international break.

The January arrivals have quickly adjusted to their new surroundings and that has propelled Barcelona back into the top-four reckoning. Win their game in hand and they'll hope to pile the pressure on Los Blancos at the top of the La Liga table.

After a dominant March, we take a look at the Barcelona trio who dominate the La Liga player ratings.

3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Barcelona) - 7.90

The best rated January arrival in Europe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been a key man for Xavi following his signing from Arsenal. The Gabonese forward had a direct hand in four league goals in March, two of which came in a man of the match performance in El Clasico. For a player Barcelona were not planning to sign at the turn of the year, Aubameyang has been a revelation in La Liga already. He managed the second most shots (12) in La Liga in March as he features in the team of the month with a WhoScored rating of 7.90.

2. Ferran Torres (Barcelona) - 8.11

Another January capture, Ferran Torres had more shots (18) than any other La Liga player in March, while no player had a direct hand in more goals than the young Spaniard (5). Torres scored or assisted in all three appearances in March, hitting the back of the net four times in total. In addition, the 22-year-old managed five tackles and interceptions combined to cap a fine March that saw him yield a WhoScored rating of 8.11.

1. Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona) - 8.25

Having been heavily linked with a move away from Barcelona in January, Ousmane Dembele has enjoyed a resurgence in 2022, featuring on the right flank in the La Liga team of the month with a WhoScored rating of 8.25. The Frenchman ranked third for key passes (10) in Spain's top tier and registered more assists (4) than any other player. On top of that, the Frenchman completed six dribbles in March and while his contract is up in the summer, Dembele is doing his reputation no harm.
