Now the pair meet at Wembley for the first time since 2016, when England came away with a 3-0 win.

England came racing out of the blocks against Croatia at Wembley on Sunday, but it wasn't until the 57th minute that they made their dominance count as Raheem Sterling latched onto a fine Kalvin Phillips pass as the Three Lions kicked off their Euro 2020 campaign with a 1-0 win. Scotland weren't so fortunate in their first major tournament game in 23 years. Patrik Schick struck either side of half time - the second a goal of the tournament contender from 50 yards - as the Czech Republic ran out 2-0 winners at Hampden.

Harry Maguire has declared himself fit to feature against Scotland tonight, but the Manchester United captain is unlikely to start in place of Tyrone Mings, who impressed against Croatia. Club teammate Dean Henderson has returned to United owing to a hip issue with Aaron Ramsdale called up as his replacement. Gareth Southgate is set to make two changes to the side that beat Croatia, with Reece James and Luke Shaw coming in for Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier.
Scotland missed Kieran Tierney against the Czech Republic, however Steve Clarke has declared that the Arsenal defender is fit to feature and he should start alongside Grant Hanley and Jack Hendry at the back, in what is a huge boost. Billy Gilmour was an unused sub on Monday, suggesting he is not yet at full fitness. Che Adams was introduced at the break in the 2-0 loss in Glasgow, though after a bright cameo, is set to start.

Manchester United's signing of Alex Telles saw Luke Shaw up his game. Now undisputed first choice at Old Trafford, the left-back's return to form has led to suggestions that United will look to cash in on Telles this summer. Indeed, Shaw finished second for key passes (72) of defenders in England's top tier last term and his attacking output will be vital against Scotland tonight.
Similarly on the opposite flank, Andy Robertson excelled for Liverpool in 2020/21, despite their dire title defence. His 66 key passes was the third best of all defenders, a metric topped by club teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold (77). Having made more key passes (6) than any other player in the first round of Euro 2020 matches, Scotland are hoping the frontmen can latch onto these chances to spring an upset at Wembley tonight.
