Jesus and Otamendi in focus in huge 22/1 Arsenal vs Manchester City Request A Bet
Culminating the weekend's Premier League action, Arsenal host champions Manchester City at the Emirates, aiming to record back-to-back league wins for the first time since the second match of the season.
City will have other ideas of course and are bidding to avoid successive league defeats by comparison. Successfully retaining their title may be a pipe dream at this stage, but losing further ground on not only Liverpool but Leicester would raise real questions as to the team's performance this season.
Ahead of an intriguing encounter, in which many bookies' favourite to become the next Arsenal manager - Mikel Arteta - will be in the away dugout, we've built a 'Request A Bet' via Sky Bet priced up at 22/1!
Tip 1: Both teams to score
Goals in the capital certainly shouldn't be in short supply on Sunday, not only due to the attacking talent on display for both sides but the poor defensive records that they boast heading into the fixture.
It's been 13 matches since Arsenal last kept a clean sheet in all competitions and, perhaps more surprisingly, 10 since Manchester City prevented an opponent from scoring. Ederson should be back from the illness that ruled him out in midweek but the long term injury to Aymeric Laporte has had a huge effect on the champions' goals against column.
Tip 2: Manchester City HT/FT
Arsenal's propensity to concede goals is nothing new, of course, but they have been particularly poor at keeping teams out early on in matches this season. They've conceded in the first half in each of their last four league matches - as well as the first goal of the game in their last five - and in 12 of the 14 matches in which they have failed to keep a clean sheet.
While City haven't been as quick out of the blocks this season as last, they have been winning at half-time and full-time in each of their last five meetings with Arsenal.
Tip 3: Nicolas Otamendi to be carded
With the aforementioned Laporte sidelined and John Stones a doubt for the trip to the Emirates, Otamendi is in line to partner Fernandinho at the back. While the Argentine appears to have cooled his temper a little since the start of last season, only six players have been booked more times in the Premier League since he arrived in England in 2015.
Four of his 30 yellow cards in the top-flight have come against the Gunners, while a caution in the FA Cup two years ago takes his tally to five in this fixture - against no other side has Otamendi been booked more often.
Tip 4: Gabriel Jesus to have 4+ shots
We take a look at our WhoScored.com match forecast to inspire our final selection, which predicts Manchester City are 'extremely likely' to create many scoring chances and 'extremely likely' to score from a set piece situation. With Aguero still sidelined Gabriel Jesus will lead the line in confident mood having scored five goals in his last two away games.
In fact, all ten of the Brazilians goals in all competitions this season for City have come on the road. In the seven league matches Jesus has started this season he has mustered 29 shots. While one might not expect it, only compatriot Richarlison has had more headed attempts in the Premier League (14), despite Jesus playing just 50 per cent of the minutes available, so he may be one of those to pose a threat from set pieces too.
