Kudus leads West Ham trio in Premier League Team of the Week

 

West Ham dominate the Premier League team of the week as they beat Wolves 3-0 on Sunday to end the weekend in eighth. Elsewhere, Manchester United, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham are also represented in the XI. 

 

Andre Onana (Manchester United) - 7.92 

 

The first of two Manchester United players in the side, Andre Onana was key as United shut Liverpool out at Anfield on Sunday. The 27-year-old has come in for plenty of criticism following his arrival from Inter but rose to the occasion on Merseyside as he made eight saves in a 0-0 draw. 

 

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) - 8.81 

 

Liverpool huffed and they puffed, but they were unable to blow Manchester United down on home turf over the weekend. Trent Alexander-Arnold was the star performing in Sunday's 0-0 draw having returned a WhoScored rating of 8.81. The Reds right-back managed six key passes, three dribbles and three tackles, one of which was a last man tackle, in what was his joint-best rated display of the season. 

 

Michael Keane (Everton) - 8.36 

 

Everton earned a fourth win on the spin at Burnley's expense on Saturday evening in a match that saw Michael Keane put in a solid rearguard showing. The centre-back made eight clearances and won four aerial duels on his old stomping ground, and was on hand to bag the Toffees' second at Turf Moor to secure his spot in the side. 

 

Raphael Varane (Manchester United) - 8.00 

 

Having found himself on the peripheries of the Manchester United first team, Raphael Varane was solid on his first league start since September. The former France international was often in the right place at the right time to alleviate pressure on the United goal as he made 15 clearances at Anfield, the second most in a Premier League match this season. 

 

Dan Burn (Newcastle) - 8.60 

 

Rounding off the defence is the first of two Newcastle representatives in the XI. Dan Burn netted for the second time in the Premier League this season as the Magpies eased to a 3-0 win over 10-man Fulham. The towering defender also won seven aerial duels and made four clearances on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.60. 

 

Amadou Onana (Everton) - 8.52 

 

Amadou Onana scored his first league goal of the season to put Everton ahead in their eventual 2-0 win at Burnley on Saturday, beating James Trafford with his only effort on goal. The 22-year-old also excelled off the ball as he won six aerial duels and made four clearances and two tackles in a player of the match performance. 

 

Kudus leads West Ham trio in Premier League Team of the Week

 

Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle) - 8.44 

 

Partnering Onana at the base of the midfield is the second Newcastle player in the side. Bruno Guimaraes registered his second assist of the season as he provided for youngster Lewis Miley in the 57th minute at St. James' Park on Saturday. That assist came from one of five key passes while an additional four dribbles saw the Brazilian yield a WhoScored rating of 8.44. 

 

Mohammed Kudus (West Ham) - 9.62 

 

The first of three West Ham players is the Premier League player of the week. Mohammed Kudus netted twice in the Hammers' 3-0 win over Wolves on Sunday, getting the better of Dan Bentley with two of three shots at the London Stadium. Kudus drove down the right well as he completed five dribbles, all the while chipping in with two tackles to help land a WhoScored rating of 9.62. 

 

Dejan Kulusevski (Tottenham) - 8.81 

 

Tottenham battled to a second successive league win on Friday night as they beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the City Ground. Dejan Kulusevski was the star player for Spurs as he directly contributed to both goals. The Swede followed up his first half assist for Richarlison on the stroke of half time with the goal that confirmed the victory for Ange Postecoglou's side midway through the second half, those coming from respective returns of three key passes and three shots. 

 

Lucas Paqueta (West Ham) - 8.88 

 

Lucas Paqueta became the third player to register a hat-trick of assists in a Premier League match this season as West Ham trounced Wolves 3-0 on home turf on Sunday. The trio of assists came from six key passes in total, while the 26-year-old also completed four dribbles and made three tackles as he gave the Wolves backline a torrid time. 

 

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) - 8.33 

 

Leading the charge in the team of the week is the third West Ham player in the XI. Jarrod Bowen wrapped up the victory for the Hammers in the 74th-minute as he got the better of Dan Bentley with one of three shots. Bowen was also unfortunate not to net in the first half having struck the woodwork shortly before the break to contribute towards the 26-year-old's WhoScored rating of 8.33.
