AC Milan and Aston Villa stars make up weekend's top performers

 

There were a number of high scoring affairs across Europe's top five leagues over the weekend as the likes of Aston Villa, Tottenham and Chelsea picked up comprehensive Premier League wins. Elsewhere, Bayern put four past Hertha Berlin, while AC Milan maintained their 100% start to the campaign with a 3-0 win over Spezia.

Putting in a solid shift between the sticks for Augsburg in their 0-0 draw with Wolfsburg, Rafa Gikiewicz came away from the stalemate with a WhoScored rating of 7.94 to feature in the European team of the week. The 32-year-old made six saves to ensure a positive result for Augsburg over the weekend as he kept the likes of Wout Weghorst, Admir Mehmedi and Josip Brekalo at bay in a man of the match showing.

AC Milan earned a comfortable 3-0 home win over Spezia to make it three wins from three at the weekend as the Italian powerhouse easily dispatched of the Serie A newboys. Theo Hernandez put in an impressive shift from left-back as he bagged his first and AC Milan's second with 15 minutes to go, scoring with one of three shots. He broke forward well from deep, completing four dribbles and making three key passes to return a WhoScored rating of 9.27

In the final Premier League match before the international break, Grealish earned his first perfect WhoScored 10 rating of his career in English top-flight football as he had a direct hand in five of Aston Villa's seven goals in their 7-2 win over defending champions Liverpool, scoring twice and registering three assists. Grealish mustered five key passes and three shots in the victory to land the top midfielder award

Forward - Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) - 10.0

 

The top rated player from the gameweek, Robert Lewandowski landed a perfect 10 rating from Bayern Munich's 4-3 win over Hertha Berlin on Sunday. Responding to their 4-1 loss at Hoffenheim the previous week, the European champions were exceptional in the final third as Lewandowski scored all four goals for the Bavarian powerhouse, with that quartet of goals coming from 13 shots. For context, Elche in LaLiga have managed 12 shots this season, and Torino have had 13 in Serie A. On top of that, the Polish hitman won three aerial duels, while one key pass and one successful dribble capped a stunning outing from the striker.
