Arsenal, Man City and Man Utd represented in Carabao Cup team of the round

Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City each booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup in midweek, brushing Liverpool, Brighton and Burnley, respectively, to one side.

The trio are each represented in the Carabao Cup team of the round, but it's a Championship star who picks up the player of the round award...

Bernd Leno (Arsenal) - 8.91

Arsenal secured their place in the next round of the Carabao Cup with a penalty shootout win over Liverpool, a triumph in which Bernd Leno played a key role. The German made seven saves in total in the victory, including two penalty stops, to kick off this XI.

Neco Williams (Liverpool) - 7.65

Sticking with the all-Premier League encounter at Anfield, Neco Williams may have been on the losing side on home turf, but the Liverpool youngster still impressed to yield a WhoScored rating of 7.65. The right-back shone off the ball, as he made five tackles and five interceptions to make the cut.

Ethan Pinnock (Brentford) - 8.16

The first of two Brentford representatives in the team of the round, the Bees eased into the quarter-finals with a comfortable 3-0 win over west London rivals Fulham with Ethan Pinnock vital at both ends of the pitch. The centre-back provided the assist for Said Benrahma's first goal on the night, all the while winning four aerial duels and making four clearances to help Brentford to a clean sheet.

Federico Fernandez (Newcastle) - 7.90

It may have taken a late Jonjo Shelvey strike that ultimately saw Newcastle secure their quarter-final spot in the Carabao Cup, but defender Federico Fernandez played a central role in the eventual penalty shootout win over Newport. Dominant in the air, the Argentine won 12 aerial duels and was proactive in his defensive approach, making four tackles and four clearances to partner Pinnock in defence.

Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City) - 8.10

Rounding off the backline is the first of three Manchester City representatives. Benjamin Mendy has endured his injury struggles, but he was at his bombarding best against Burnley. He provided the assist for Raheem Sterling's opener, that coming from one of two key passes, while an additional three successful dribbles saw him return a WhoScored rating of 8.10.

Ferran Torres (Manchester City) - 8.98

Playing a key role in City's win at Burnley, Ferran Torres provided the assist for Raheem Sterling's, and Manchester City's, second goal in the victory at Turf Moor. The Spaniard then got his name on the scoresheet, his first for the club following his arrival from Valencia, with a goal midway through the second half, as he made two key passes and mustered four shots in the 3-0 victory.

Jonjo Shelvey (Newcastle) - 8.74

The second Newcastle player to make the cut, Jonjo Shelvey scored a sensational equaliser late on at Newport that saw the game go to penalties, with the Mapies emerging victorious. Shelvey was unfortunate not to record an assist in the encounter, as he made six key passes, more than any other player in this round of the Carabao Cup, to secure a midfield spot.

Scott McTominay (Manchester United) - 8.06

Joining Shelvey in the middle of the park is Manchester United man Scott McTominay. The midfielder put United ahead on the stroke of half time at Brighton, hitting the back of the net with his only shot of the game, and he worked tirelessly off the ball, too, making four tackles to land a WhoScored rating of 8.06.

Said Benrahma (Brentford) - 10.0

The second Brentford player to feature in the best XI, Said Benrahma lands the player of the round award after his perfect 10 showing in a 3-0 win over Fulham. The Algerian star was exceptional on his first start of the campaign as he netted twice, with his second a sensational strike that saw him embarrass Fulham defender Michael Hector. Nine successful dribbles was more than any other player in the round to help Benrahma to the player of the round accolade.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton) - 9.65

On the eve of his England call up, Dominic Calvert-Lewin bagged a hat-trick as Everton eased past West Ham on home turf. The striker gave a timely reminder, as if one were needed at present, of his goalscoring pedigree in the comfortable victory, scoring with five of seven shots, to help Calvert-Lewin to a WhoScored rating of 9.65.

Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) - 8.98

The final Manchester City star completes the team of the round. In the absence of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling led the attack with aplomb, bagging twice in City's 3-0 win at Burnley. Only Jacob Murphy (9) managed more shots than Sterling (8) in this round of the Carabao Cup, with the England international providing the assist for Ferran Torres' goal midway through the second half to round off the best XI.
