Bellingham the star in WhoScored's Bundesliga Team of the Season
The 2022/23 Bundesliga season ended in dramatic fashion on Saturday as Bayern Munich capitalised on Borussia Dortmund's 2-2 draw with Mainz 05 to secure the title in the dying embers of the campaign.
The powerhouse pair have six players between them feature in the WhoScored Bundesliga team of the season, while Union Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen are also represented.
Frederik Rønnow (Union Berlin) - 7.01
Kicking off the Bundesliga team of the season is Union Berlin shotstopper Frederik Rønnow. No team shipped fewer goals than the capital side (38) in Germany's top tier this term, with the Danish goalkeeper key. Rønnow ranked ninth for most saves (92) in the division, and returned the best save success rate (76.9%), while only two goalkeepers kept more clean sheets than the 30-year-old (11) to contribute towards a WhoScored rating of 7.01.
Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen) - 7.12
Jeremie Frimpong has enjoyed a wonderful season for Bayer Leverkusen, so much so that the Dutchman is being courted by a number of Europe's elite ahead of a potential summer move. Frimpong had a direct hand in 15 league goals this season, scoring eight, and completed more dribbles (85) than any other defender, that return ranking second overall, to nail down the right-back spot with a WhoScored rating of 7.12.
Benjamin Pavard (Bayern Munich) - 7.17
The first of three representatives for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Benjamin Pavard occupies one of the centre-back spots in the team of the season. The Frenchman netted four goals for Thomas Tuchel's side this season, ranked fourth for passes per game (74.4) and eighth for total tackles and interceptions (114) to return a WhoScored rating of 7.17.
Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund) - 7.09
Featuring alongside Pavard at the heart of the defence is the first of three representatives for runners' up Borussia Dortmund. Nico Schlotterbeck was directly involved in nine goals for Dortmund, scoring four times, and averaged the sixth most passes per game (67.4) in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old also blocked the ninth most shots (21) to yield a WhoScored rating of 7.09.
Raphael Guerreiro (Borussia Dortmund) - 7.27
Rounding off the defence is the second Borussia Dortmund player in the side. Raphael Guerreiro made the ninth most key passes (58) in the Bundesliga this season, and registered more assists (12) than any other player. An additional four goals saw the Portuguese man land a WhoScored rating of 7.27.
Dominik Szoboszlai (RB Leipzig) - 7.32
Featuring on the right flank is RB Leipzig youngster Dominik Szoboszlai. The Hungarian winger was directly involved in 14 league goals this season, registering eight assists, that ranking ninth, while 71 key passes was the fourth most in the division. In addition, Szoboszlai created the fifth most clear-cut goalscoring opportunities (14) to return a WhoScored rating of 7.32.
Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich) - 7.47
It's no real surprise to see Joshua Kimmich feature in the Bundesliga team of the season. The Germany international was again intrumental in Bayern's title triumph, as noted by his WhoScored rating of 7.47, as Kimmich registered six assists and scored five goals. 75.5 passes per game was the third best return in Germany's top tier, while 78 tackles and 86 key passes ranked fifth and second, respectively, to reinforce his inclusion in the team.
Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund) - 7.58
With a rating of 7.58, Jude Bellingham is the WhoScored Bundesliga player of the season. While he couldn't help Borussia Dortmund to the title, Bellingham enjoyed a season to remember as he scored eight goals and provided four assists. The England international was Dortmund's driving force from midfield have completed more dribbles (86) and ranked third for possession won in the attacking third (31) to cap what might well be his final season in the Bundesliga.
Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich) - 7.34
Rounding off the Bayern trio is youngster Jamal Musiala. The 20-year-old was one of only two players to register double figures for both goals (12) and assists (10) in the Bundesliga this season, his 12th delivering title glory. Musiala also completed the third most dribbles (77) in the division to secure a WhoScored rating of 7.34.
Niclas Fullkrug (Werder Bremen) - 7.38
Werder Bremen staved off relegation in part due to Niclas Fullkrug's goal return this season. No player scored more Bundesliga goals than the Germany international (16) as Fullkrug picked up where he left off following a commendable World Cup. The 30-year-old's return of 79 shots was the fifth most in the division to help book his spot in the side with a WhoScored rating of 7.38.
Randal Kolo Muani (Eintracht Frankfurt) - 7.29
Partnering Fullkrug on the frontline to complete the XI is Eintracht Frankfurt hitman Randal Kolo Muani. The France international was the other player to register double figures for both goals (15) and assists (11) to further boost his reputation. Muani ranked seventh for shots (77) and 22nd for key passes (41), while only Kimmich (38) won possession in the attacking third more times than the 24-year-old (32) to return a WhoScored rating of 7.29.
