Team News
Germany trounced Scotland in the opening game of Euro 2024 and came through the victory unscathed. Pascal Gross replaced Robert Andrich for the second half of Friday's 5-1 win and the Brighton man could start alongside Toni Kroos in what may be Julian Nagelsmann's only change.
Similarly, Hungary have no injury issues for Wednesday's meeting with the Euro 2024 hosts. Marco Rossi, though, could make a single change for this one, with Bendeguz Bolla, who replaced Adam Lang at the break against Switzerland, starting in defence.
Probable XIs
Germany (4231) - Neuer; Kimmich, Rudiger, Tah, Mittelstadt; Gross, Kroos; Musiala, Gundogan, Wirtz; Havertz
Hungary (3421) - Gulacsi; Bolla, Orban, Szalai; Fiola, Nagy, Schafer, Kerkez; Szoboszlai, Sallai; Varga
Key Battle
Having started the season in midfield, injuries for Bayern saw Joshua Kimmich moved back to right-back for the second half of the campaign, and he's since remained there for both club and country. Tidy on the ball, Kimmich's indifferent showings out of possession could prove decisive. Indeed, no player has been dribbled past more times than the German (4) at Euro 2024 at the time of writing, and this poses an issue for the hosts.
That's because Kimmich is expected to come up againt Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez in Stuttgart this week. While Kerkez and Hungary faltered in their Group A opener, falling to a 3-1 loss to Switzerland, the 20-year-old, who has made quite the impression in his debut Premier League campaign, is a testing opponent for even the most experienced of defenders. If he's given the space to run into down the Hungary left, then Kimmich could be in for a testing 90 minutes.
