Barcelona and Real Madrid feature in LaLiga October XI

Barcelona and Real Madrid are both representated in WhoScored's LaLiga team of the month as the Spanish giants impressed in October... 

Goalkeeper: Aitor Fernandez (Levante) - 7.00 rating 

It was a fairly uninspiring month for Levante, but it would have been worse without Aitor Fernandez between the sticks. The 28-year-old made more saves (19) than any other LaLiga goalkeeper in October to return a WhoScored rating of 7.00. 

Right-back: Pablo De Blasis (Eibar) - 7.28 rating 

Pablo De Blasis has registered just two league assists this season, one of which came in October and proved vital in a 2-1 win over Villarreal. The Argentine pressed forward wll from right-back as he completed seven dribbles last month to make the LaLiga best XI with a 7.28 rating. 

Centre-back: Marc Bartra (Real Betis) - 7.23 rating 

The sole Real Betis representative in this XI, Marc Batra was essential in an October that saw his side earn four points from four matches. Indeed, he provided an assist in a 1-1 draw with Eibar while 18 clearances ranked highly to help return a WhoScored rating of 7.23. 

Centre-back: Jules Kounde (Sevilla) - 7.09 rating 

Sevilla started October poorly, but ended on a high as they won two of four, with Jules Kounde slipping into defence soundly as the Seville outfit conceded just the once in his three outings. The 20-year-old won a commendable 19 aerial duels to make the XI with a WhoScored rating of 7.09. 

Left-back: Pervis Estupinan (Osasuna) - 7.42 rating 

Pervis Estupinan has had a direct hand in two goals this season, both of which came in October, as the left-back scored in the 3-1 win over Valencia and provided an assist in a man of the match display against Mallorca. 10 successful dribbles was a fine return from the 21-year-old who gained a WhoScored rating of 7.42. 

Right midfield: Lionel Messi (Barcelona) - 9.55 rating 

The LaLiga and European player of the month with a WhoScored rating of 9.55, Lionel Messi was exceptional in October, which included two perfect 10 performances and three WhoScored man of the match awards. The Argentine was top for clear-cut chances created (5), had a direct hand in more goals (7 - 4 goals, 3 assists) than any other player and completed more dribbles (21) to return such an impressive rating. 

Central midfield: Casemiro (Real Madrid) - 7.98 rating 

The first of two Real Madrid representatives, Casemiro was at his ball winning best in October as he made more tackles (20) than any other player and ranked fifth for interceptions (9). The Brazilian, then, was good value for his WhoScored rating of 7.98. 

Central midfield: Jose Campana (Levante) - 7.59 rating 

Featuring alongside Casemiro in the middle of the park is Levante's Jose Campana, who yielded a WhoScored rating of 7.59 in October. Campana created 11 goalscoring chances in October, the third most in LaLiga, and found the back of the net to make the best XI. 

Left midfield: Ruben Garcia (Osasuna) - 7.91 rating 

It's an all Osasuna left side in this XI as Ruben Garcia joins teammate Estupinan in the LaLiga team of the month. He had a direct hand in three goals in October, scoring two, and put in a man of the match display in Osasuna's 3-1 win over Valencia to garner an average WhoScored rating of 7.91 in October. 

Striker: Luis Suarez (Barcelona) - 8.27 rating 

The second Barcelona representative to make the XI, Luis Suarez scored in all three LaLiga appearances last month, totalling three goals. With 11 shots to his name, the Uruguayan gained a WhoScored rating of 8.27 to feature in the LaLiga team of the month. 

Striker: Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) - 7.87 

Joining Suarez in attack and rounding off the XI is Real Madrid's Karim Benzema. The Frenchman had a direct hand in four goals in October, netting twice, as he put in a man of the match display in Los Blancos' 5-0 win over Leganes, where he scored one and assisted two. All in all, he did enough to return an average WhoScored rating of 7.87.
