La Liga team of the week: Suarez and Aspas steal show with hat-tricks

There is little surprise as to the top performers in La Liga over gameweek ten, with Iago Aspas and Luis Suarez both welcoming the birth of newborn daughters this week and celebrating in some style.

The former is our player of the week with a perfect rating of ten having scored with three of his five attempts at goal in total, only one of which did not hit the target. The Celta Vigo star also created a chance and completed a dribble as Antonio Mohamed’s side put Eibar to the sword with a 4-0 win, and is now the joint top scorer in the division, with eight.

Suarez’s statistics were very similar as he stepped up to the plate in the absence of Lionel Messi in the Clasico, though the first of his three goals did come from the penalty spot. The Uruguayan also had five shots in total, with four on target, but was booked for a late tackle on Nacho and did waste a couple of promising opportunities on the counter, preventing him from earning a perfect score, rated 9.57.

The third and fourth highest rated players also came from Barcelona, with starting full-backs Sergi Roberto (8.86) and Jordi Alba (8.80) having a huge say in the 5-1 rout over Real Madrid.

The latter was pivotal to the hosts’ dominance in the first half, teeing up Philippe Coutinho’s opener before playing the low cross for which Suarez earned the penalty. Meanwhile the former picked up two assists of his own for the striker when pushed forward in the second half as Barca successfully stunted their visitors strong start to the second half.

There are places for Atletico Madrid duo Diego Godin and Saul Niguez elsewhere after a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad, while Celta youngster Brais Mendez joins teammate Aspas in the side after a goal and an assist of his own.
