Turkey kicked off Euro 2020 against Italy in Rome, but it was a game they'd like to quickly forget. Having been on the backfoot for the first half, their resolve was broken by the Azzurri, albeit via a Merih Demiral own goal shortly after the restart. Once Italy scored their first, Turkey folded as Ciro Immobile added a second midway through the second half and Lorenzo Insigne capped a fine showing from Roberto Mancini's side.

Wales had VAR to thank for securing a point against Switzerland in the second game of Euro 2020. They fell behind to a Breel Embolo goal four minutes into the second half, yet dragged themselves back into the tie courtesy of Kieffer Moore's header with 15 minutes to play. Mario Gavranovic had thought he'd won it for Switzerland late on, but VAR ruled out the goal for offside, which had Wales fans breathing a huge sign of relief.

Team News

Turkey have no pressing injury news, but after a disappointing display against Italy, Senol Gunes may elect to change things up in the squad. Cengiz Under, Irfan Can Kahveci and Kaan Ayan are among those pushing for starts, while key man Hakan Calhanoglu could also be moved inside to maximise his creative talent after starting the defeat to Italy on the left.

Wales were expected to use a three-man defence at Euro 2020, but Rob Page elected to use a 4-1-4-1 system against Switzerland. He may move to a 4-2-3-1 to drop Joe Morrell in alongside Joe Allen at the base of the midfield. Ethan Ampadu is also an option for Page here.

Turkey vs Wales: Euro 2020 team news and prediction

Hakan Calhanoglu created more goalscoring chances (98) than any other player in Serie A last season, with those resulting in nine assists for AC Milan. The Turkey international is able to play on the left, but he is better served playing through the middle where he can maximise his creative qualities and after a sub-par showing out wide against Italy, Senol Gunes may elect to move the 27-year-old in field for this evening's meeting with Wales.

Gareth Bale endured a mixed spell with Tottenham and while many felt it didn't go quite according to plan, the Welsh star ended his return in north London with 11 goals and two assists to his name. Netting every 84 minutes, Bale had the best minutes per goal record in the Premier League last season and after a 1-1 draw with Switzerland to kick off Group A, Wales could do with their talisman transferring that record to Euro 2020.

Score Prediction: Turkey 1-1 Wales
