Fantasy Football: England hopefuls out to impress Gareth Southgate this weekend
Ahead of this weekend's Premier League action, the WhoScored Expert has picked out four tips to be considered for your fantasy football teams for gameweek 3.
JOE GOMEZ (LIVERPOOL vs BRIGHTON)
Liverpool have started a new Premier League season with two straight wins for just the fifth time since the turn of the millennium and are the only team left in the division yet to concede.
There were rumours at the start of the summer that Jurgen Klopp would consider signing another centre-back due to Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip's injury-prone nature but those thoughts were quickly binned.
Instead, Klopp has placed his faith in emerging defender Joe Gomez, who has made a thoroughly impressive start to the season.
Gomez has partnered Virgil van Dijk at centre-back in both of Liverpool's opening two games and has looked every bit as impressive as Klopp's record signing.
The 21-year-old is expected to be named in Gareth Southgate's England squad for next month's matches and he should also be considered for your fantasy football squads.
Liverpool host Brighton, who are fresh from their stunning 3-2 win over Manchester United, but a trip to Anfield will throw up a whole new test in itself.
The Reds have scored an astonishing 15 goals over their least three matches against Brighton, suggesting a comfortable game is in the offing for Klopp's side.
RYAN SESSEGNON (FULHAM vs BURNLEY)
After an astonishing summer off the pitch, Fulham would have hoped for a slightly better start to the season. The Cottagers have lost their first two games, albeit one of those matches was away to Tottenham.
Fulham did at least get on the scoresheet against Spurs, something they failed to do against Crystal Palace in gameweek 1, and they will hope to do even better this weekend.
The west London outfit have a real opportunity to get their first points on the board when they face Burnley on Sunday.
This match for Burnley is sandwiched between Europa League qualifiers against Olympiakos and they lost the first leg 3-1 on Thursday.
Burnley's achievements last season were astonishing but they already appear to be paying the price for a hectic schedule.
Including Europa League qualifiers, Sean Dyche's side have not won any of their opening seven matches in regular time.
With that in mind, and the fact the first leg of Burnley's Europa League qualifier was in Greece, Fulham should sense blood and go for the kill.
Ryan Sessegnon is one of the most coveted young English prospects and provided the assist for Fulham's first Premier League goal of the season last time out, so he should be considered for your fantasy football teams.
EDEN HAZARD (NEWCASTLE vs CHELSEA)
After a summer-long saga where it seemed certain Eden Hazard would join Real Madrid, the Belgium international has instead pledged his immediate future to Chelsea.
New Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has eased Hazard back into the swing of things following his exploits at the 2018 World cup, limiting him to substitute appearances in their first two games.
Despite only managing 43 minutes of playing time, Hazard has still managed to provide two assists.
In fact, only Manchester City ace Benjamin Mendy (3) has registered more assists than Hazard in the Premier League this season and the Frenchman has spent more than two hours longer on the pitch.
Sarri will bid to make it three wins from three when Chelsea travel to Newcastle on Sunday but this could be a potential banana-skin fixture for the west London outfit.
Newcastle are unbeaten in their last five home matches against Chelsea, so Sarri may look to unleash Hazard from the start this weekend.
If the 27-year-old isn't already in your fantasy football teams, then he should be now.
ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE (ARSENAL vs WEST HAM)
Many would consider Alexandre Lacazette unlucky only to be limited to 52 minutes of playing time spread over two substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal have lost their opening two league fixtures, albeit to the last two Premier League champions, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has kept his place despite lacking confidence in front of goal.
New Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has backed Aubameyang to find form, but that shouldn't mean Lacazette has to settle for a place on the bench.
Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have really struggled in Arsenal's opening two matches and Lacazette should have a good chance of replacing one of them to play up front with Aubameyang against West Ham on Saturday.
The Frenchman scored twice in Arsenal's last meeting with the Hammers and has impressed during his limited playing time this season.
As Arsenal go in search of their first win of the season, Lacazette should be considered by Emery and fantasy football fans this weekend.
