Man City claim one, two and three in Premier League form rankings

Manchester City now look nailed on for the title after watching nearest challengers Manchester United drop points at home to Everton before thrashing Liverpool 4-1 at Anfield. Pep Guardiola's side have opened up a five-point gap at the top of the table and can make it as many as eight if they win their game in hand.

On a 10-game winning streak in the Premier League, City have surged to top of the table and unsurprisingly dominate our player form rankings. In fact, the top three are all City players in the wake of their demolition job at Liverpool - their first Premier League win at Anfield since 2003.

Before we dive into the top-10 player form rankings, a reminder of how it all works. As always, our power rankings are based on a six-game period, weighted chronologically with the most recent outing carrying greater significance and so on. Each player must have played in two of the last three and six of the last eight available Premier League matches for their side. Moreover, only league ratings are considered.

10) Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) - 7.48 form rating

Winless in three and following back-to-back defeats, Bukayo Saka has dropped six places to 10th in our form rankings. Saka has played a direct hand in four goals (3 goals, 1 assist) in his last six league outings but really needs help from some of the other Arsenal players to turn their current dip around.

9) Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) - 7.52 form rating

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish saw a run of scoring or assisting in four straight league games come to an end at the weekend but he still manages to move up one place in the top-10 following their 1-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend. In addition to his goal contributions over his last six, Grealish averages 3.3 key passes pg, 2.7 successful dribbles pg and 3.8 fouls won pg.

8) Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) - 7.54 form rating

Ollie Watkins returns to the top-10 for the first time since November. While other Villa players have looked weary of late, Watkins continues to run and run. The 25-year-old has scored in four of Villa's last five Premier League matches, more than his previous 13 appearances in the competition combined (3). Given the thankless task of leading the line on his own, Watkins is arguably the best in the division at playing that role. Indeeed, Watkins averages 4.7 aerials won pg across Villa's last six league matches.

7) Tomas Soucek (West Ham) - 7.56 form rating

Unfortunately penalised for a red card against Fulham, Tomas Soucek has dropped from second to seventh in our form rankings. His red card has correctly been overturned but the dismissal will stay on his record nonetheless. The West Ham ace has three goals in his last six league appearances and averages 6.7 aerial duels won per game in that time.

6) Joao Cancelo (Manchester City) - 7.60 form rating

Not quite as his influential best in Manchester City's 4-1 thumping of Liverpool, Joao Cancelo is down three places in our top 10. Cancelo was forced to do more defending than previous weeks against Liverpool, managing six tackles and interceptions combined - one shy of his personal best in a Premier League game this season. The versatile City full-back has a goal and an assist in his last six league appearances.

5) Miguel Almiron (Newcastle) - 7.61 form rating

In the top-10 for the first time ever in his Premier League career, Miguel Almiron is a surprise name in our power rankings. Ranked 150th for the season overall, Almiron is also the lowest ranked player to make the top-10 this season. After netting one in his first 15 league appearances this season, Almiron now has three in his last six after netting a brace against Southampton at the weekend. The 26-year-old averages 2.7 tackles pg in that time, as well as 2 successful dribbles pg and 1.8 key passes pg.

4) Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) - 7.73 form rating

Bruno Fernandes took his tally to 13 for the campaign after driving an outrageous effort from the edge of the area over a helpless Robin Olsen. The Manchester United star is up two places in our top-10 as a result and has four goal involvements in his last six. In that time, Fernandes averaged 3.8 shots pg and 2.5 key passes pg.

3) Phil Foden (Manchester City) - 7.82 form rating

Phil Foden shoots up into the top-10 for the first time this season after turning in a WhoScored Man of the Match display against Liverpool on Sunday. Foden scored and assisted in the victory to make it three goal involvements in his last six. His performance against Liverpool was his best in a Premier League match this season (9.29) and kickstarts the first of three City players in the countdown to top spot.

2) Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City) - 7.92 form rating

Despite scoring twice against Liverpool, Ilkay Gundogan is actually dislodged from top-spot in our form rankings after a run of three straight gameweeks at number one. Had Gundogan converted the penalty for his hat-trick, then the Germany international would have retained top spot. Nevertheless, Gundogan has remarkably played scored six goals in his last six Premier League appearances. No Sergio Aguero, no problem.

1) Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) - 8.02 form rating

Knocking Ilkay Gundogan from top spot is his Manchester City team-mate Raheem Sterling. After a slow start to the season, Sterling has clicked into top gear without many noticing in recent weeks. Finding the back of the net against old club Liverpool, Sterling has now scored in three straight league games and in four of his last five. With one assist in that time as well, Sterling has played a direct hand in five goals in six league appearances. Moreover, Sterling has notably finished two of those games with a pass success rate above 90%. He gave Trent Alexander-Arnold a tough day's work on Sunday, completing five dribbles - one shy of his personal best in a league game this season.
