Bundesliga round-up: Three perfect 10s make the cut in best XI

There have been three perfect 10s handed out in a Bundesliga match this season. All three of those came this weekend with Luka Jovic, Sebastian Haller and Jonas Hofmann all impressing for Eintracht Frankfurt and Gladbach, respectively. Eintracht romped to a 7-1 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf on Friday night, while Gladbach dismantled Mainz 05 with relative ease, landing a 4-0 win on Sunday evening.

The trio impressed, but our unique rating system has determined that Jovic is the player of the week in the Bundesliga. The young Serb has scored seven league goals this season, five of which came on Friday night, as the striker tore into Fortuna Dusseldorf, with his first and Eintracht’s second the pick of the bunch. He was prolific, too, with his five goals coming from just six shots in the resounding victory, while two successful dribbles contributed to a perfect 10.

Partner in crime Haller joins Jovic on the podium this week, with the 24-year-old helping himself to two goals and two assists on Friday night. The Frenchman set Eintracht on their path to victory as he dispatched a 20th minute penalty, with his brace coming from seven shots. His two assists came from five key passes and an additional four successful dribbles and one interception saw him land a perfect WhoScored rating of 10.

Hofmann rounds off the top three best performing players of the week after a hugely influential display against Mainz 05. The 26-year-old has scored only four league goals this season, three of which came in Gladbach’s 4-0 win. His three goals came from five shots and returns of two tackles, one interception, two key passes and two successful dribbles contributed to a perfect 10 performance from the German.

As Mainz 05 capitulated in Gladbach, it is goalkeeper Florian Muller who landed the lowest WhoScored rating of gameweek eight. The 20-year-old endured a miserable 90 minutes at Borussia-Park with the youngster directly at fault for two of the four goals Mainz 05 conceded. Such a disappointing display saw Muller earn a WhoScored rating of just 3.96, the worst in Germany’s top tier this week.
