Premier League Best XI: Liverpool and Manchester City represented in team of the month
Here we reveal the best rated XI from the month of April in the Premier League and run through the top five WhoScored rated players from within it.
5. James Maddison (Leicester) - 7.68 rating
James Maddison registered one assist and scored once in four league appearances in April to help fire Leicester into contention for a seventh place finish. The England international also registered exactly four shots in three of those four appearances; registered eight tackles, completed nine dribbles and registered eight key passes.
4. Jamie Vardy (Leicester) - 7.89 rating
Brendan Rodgers’ arrival at Leicester has revitalised the Foxes and more specifically Jamie Vardy. The former England international now has an outside shot of finishing as the top goalscorer in the Premier League this season after a run of five goals in four games in April. Vardy continued his sensational record against top-six sides with a brace in a 3-0 win over Arsenal to close the month.
3. Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City) - 8.14 rating
Kevin de Bruyne’s month was unfortunately cut short due to injury just as the Belgium international was getting back to the peak of his powers. De Bruyne averaged a goal or an assist every 72.7 minutes of playing time in the league last month and his contribution earned City an extra two points, which could quite possibly be the difference between winning the title or not.
2. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 8.37 rating
While many have suggested Mohamed Salah has not hit the same heights as his first season at Liverpool, the Egypt international is still the top scorer in the Premier League this season (21 goals). Salah netted four goals in as many league games last month and closed April with a perfect WhoScored 10 rating in Liverpool’s destruction of Huddersfield, where he played a direct hand in three of the five goals scored.
1. Eden Hazard (Chelsea) - 8.55 rating
Eden Hazard finished April as the WhoScored Player of the Month in the Premier League, once again performing to a level far beyond his team-mates. Only two players provided more key passes than Hazard (14) in the Premier League last month, while ranking top for dribbles completed (31), at least 14 more than any other player. The Belgian also scored three goals and provided two assists across his five league appearances.
