DraftKings: Manchester City star leads the way as best performer in gameweek 6

We’re excited for the contests this weekend, but an FYI: we receive a commission from DraftKings, but are not employees and don’t have access to non-public info. These are just our personal thoughts and expertise on the upcoming matches!

Goalkeepers

Petr Cech (Arsenal) - 8.67 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $5,700)

Our top rated goalkeeper from the week was Arsenal number one Petr Cech. The Gunners shotstopper has come under some criticisms this season, but his WhoScored rating (8.67) was better than any other goalkeeper in gameweek six, thus landing a spot in the Premier League team of the week. Up against a Watford side next that has faltered following the international break, he’s one to consider for your DraftKings side.

Joe Hart (Burnley) - 7.85 rating

Burnley got their first win of the season with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Bournemouth last weekend as Joe Hart impressed again between the sticks. A clean sheet attaining performance, made possible by the shotstopper making five saves, returned a WhoScored rating of 7.85.

Lukasz Fabianski (West Ham) - 7.67 rating

Rounding off the top three top performing goalkeepers is West Ham number one Lukasz Fabianski, who, like Cech and Hart before him, helped himself to a clean sheet as the Hammers frustrated Chelsea. Returns of six saves and two successful cross claims means Fabianski was good value for a WhoScored rating of 7.67.

Defenders

Joel Matip (Liverpool) - 8.67 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $3,200)

On his first Premier League start of the season, Joel Matip put in a man of the match performance in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Southampton, with his showing landing him a WhoScored rating of 8.67. He netted one of the Reds’ three goals, while returns of three interceptions and one tackle capped off a solid display from Matip.

James Tarkowski (Burnley) - 7.98 rating

Like teammate Hart, Burnley’s own James Tarkowski features in the top performing defenders from gameweek six after a solid rearguard display against Bournemouth. Seven clearances, three interceptions and two tackles returned a WhoScored rating of 7.98.

Ben Chilwell (Leicester) - 7.91 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $4,700)

Ben Chilwell churned out an impressive showing as Leicester overcame Huddersfield 3-1 at the King Power Stadium, with the 21-year-old proving just why he is now first-choice left-back under Claude Puel. Indeed, had his teammates rocked their shooting boots at the weekend, he’d have had an assist as he registered five key passes to help return a 7.91 WhoScored rating. With Leicester up against Newcastle next, and Chilwell boasting an affordable $4,700 salary, he’s one to consider for your DraftKings team.

Honourable mentions

Nicolas Otamendi (Manchester City) - 7.89 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $4,400)

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Crystal Palace) - 7.77 rating

Ben Mee (Burnley) - 7.74 rating

Midfielders

Bernardo Silva (Manchester City) - 9.07 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $7,900)

Our Premier League player of the week, Bernardo Silva scored one and assisted another as Manchester City romped to a 5-0 win at Cardiff City last weekend. The Portuguese star continues to excel in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne and with a welcome of Brighton looming, he could be a handy addition at a salary of $7,900.

Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City) - 8.81 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $6,500)

Similarly, Ilkay Gundogan also impressed in City’s dismantling of Cardiff as he scored one and assisted another to return a WhoScored rating of 8.81. With one eye on next week’s Champions League meeting with Hoffenheim, the German could be give the chance to start again and with a DraftKings salary of $6,500, he’s a more affordable City midfield option.

Aaron Lennon (Burnley) - 8.68 rating

Like Silva and Gundogan before him, Aaron Lennon also scored one and assisted one as Burnley romped to a 4-0 win over Bournemouth. The winger was excellent in the victory as he gained the WhoScored man of the match award with a 8.68 rating.

Honourable mentions

Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) - 8.39 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $8,600)

Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City) - 8.36 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $9,200)

Luka Milivojevic (Crystal Palace) - 8.32 rating

Forwards

Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) - 8.87 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $7,700)

After a prolonged spell on the sidelines due to suspension, Jamie Vardy was back among the goals against Huddersfield and provided an assist in the 3-1 win over the Terriers. With the visit to newcastle looming, he’s one to consider for your DraftKings side.

Harry Kane (Tottenham) - 8.29 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $9,900)

The Tottenham star has endured his critics in recent weeks, but was back among the goals as Spurs snapped their losing run with a 2-1 win at Brighton last weekend. He may be pricey, with a DraftKings salary of $9,900, but against Huddersfield, you’d expect Kane to continue add to his three Premier League goals this season.

Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester) - 8.27 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $6,300)

After a rocky start to life at Leicester, Kelechi Iheanacho looks to be returning to his best form having scored one and assisted another against Huddersfield. With a DraftKings salary of just $6,300, he may be an astute pickup as the Foxes aim to keep the Magpies grounded this weekend.

Honourable mentions

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) - 8.17 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $8,300)

Ashley Barnes (Burnley) - 8.16 rating

Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) - 8.14 rating
(DraftKings Salary: $6,800
