Goalkeepers

Heurelho Gomes now leads the way in the form rankings for goalkeepers after back-to-back clean sheets against West Brom and Southampton. The Brazilian has secured a rating of 7.45 having been awarded WhoScored.com's man of the match award against Southampton last week, producing 5 saves to keep the Saints at bay. A third successive shut out against league leaders City would be some feat though.

At the opposite end to Gomes this weekend Joe Hart (7.23 rating) is yet to concede a goal this season as City prepare to host newly-promoted Watford. The England international will be confident of a fourth successive clean sheet given that the Hornets have failed to score in each of their last three matches, including a Capital One Cup defeat to Preston in midweek.

Defenders

Aleksandar Kolarov has kept his place at the top of the rankings for defenders and he, like Hart, will hope to play his part in ensuring City's immaculate defensive record continues on Saturday. The Serbian scored his side's opener in a 2-0 win over Everton last weekend and will, as ever, prove a threat in attack against Watford this weekend.

Elsewhere Saints summer signing Cedric Soares has moved to third in the defensive rankings with a WhoScored.com rating of 7.63 and he'll be aiming to build on an impressive start against Norwich on Sunday. Southampton have been sluggish out the blocks thus far, perhaps struggling with balancing European commitments, but Soares has been strong at both ends, averaging a combined average of 7 tackles and interceptions per game as well as creating 6 chances to date.

Midfielders

Riyad Mahrez continues to shine for Leicester and has the highest WhoScored.com rating of any Premier League player after three matches (9.22), matching last season's tally of 4 goals to lead the scoring charts. The winger has also picked up WhoScored's man of the match award in each of his appearances thus far and will be aiming to make it four from four when the Foxes travel to face newly-promoted Bournemouth on Saturday.

Elsewhere David Silva and Yaya Toure rank second and third respectively in midfield having both scored once and registered 3 assists already this season. A rampant City side will be strong favourites against Watford, despite Quique Sanchez Flores' men drawing all three of their matches thus far, and on this form the Hornets will do extremely well to keep the hosts' in form players quiet this weekend.

Strikers

Many felt that Christian Benteke just wouldn't suit Brendan Rodgers' playing style but Liverpool are adapting to get the best out of the Belgian, who could easily have more than the one goal to his name for the club already. Though he has missed big chances the former Villa man, as is to be expected, has been a real handful and his hold up play is beneficial to the likes of Coutinho, having won a massive 16 aerial duels against Arsenal on Monday night.

Bafetimbi Gomis is another striker on form and is the only player other than the aforementioned Mahrez to score in all three league matches for his club this season. His 3 goals have come from 10 shots thus far and have earned him a rating of 7.52 from WhoScored.com. Alhough Swansea host United on Sunday, they will be confident of a result regardless having come out on top in both of their encounters with the Red Devils last season.
