Serie A round-up: Former Arsenal winger Gervinho among star performers

Napoli cut the gap at the top of Serie A to nine points after Juventus only managed a 3-3 draw at home to Parma despite leading 3-1 with less than 30 minutes remaining.

At the very least Napoli have all but secured second place, as Inter continue to stumble under Luciano Spalletti. Inter have now lost successive league matches and have to look over their shoulder at the teams coming up their rear.

There were six draws across gameweek 22, as we round up the top five WhoScored rated players from Serie A.

5. Jose Callejon (Napoli) – 8.33 rating

Napoli recorded an impressive 3-0 win over Sampdoria on Saturday, ending Fabio Quagliarella’s fabulous goalscoring streak. Jose Callejon was the architect behind the victory, providing the cross from which Arkadiusz Milik opened the scoring midway through the first half. Callejon turned in a typically industrious performance, combining hard work with guile on the ball. The Spaniard registered four key passes in total, while also completing three tackles.

4.  Hans Hateboer (Atalanta) – 8.36 rating

Atalanta’s sublime run of form continued on Monday night with a 1-0 win away to Cagliari. Hans Hateboer scored the decisive goal, his first since November. The 25-year-old also registered three key passes, had one more shot on goal and also completed two dribbles down Atalanta’s right-flank. The Dutchman also won four aerial duels, which he has only managed on one previous occasion in a Serie A game this season.

3. Gervinho (Parma) – 8.37 rating

Gervinho has been a revelation for Parma this season and was integral to their stunning comeback away to Juventus on Saturday. The former Arsenal winger scored two goals in the final 18 minutes, as Parma came from 3-1 down to hold the reigning champions 3-1. Gervinho impressively completed 94.4% of his passes and also completed three dribbles. The 31-year-old has scored 33.3% of Parma’s league goals this season and will prove decisive in where they finish this season.

2. Gianluigi Donnarumma (AC Milan) – 8.62 rating

Gianluigi Donnarumma has now won the WhoScored Man of the Match award in three straight league matches after turning in another hugely decisive performance at the weekend. Donnarumma made seven saves and successfully claimed one cross in Milan’s 1-1 draw on Sunday. The teenage goalkeeper has only conceded three goals in his last eight league matches.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) – 9.93 rating

Cristiano Ronaldo bounced back from Juventus’ shock Coppa Italia elimination last week with a decisive performance in their 3-3 draw with Parma. The Portugal international played a direct hand in all the goals, netting twice and supplying the assist for Daniele Rugani after the hour mark. The 34-year-old hit double figures for shots in a match for the fourth time in Serie A this season, while also completing three dribbles. Moreover, Ronaldo registered six key passes against Parma, a personal record in Serie A game.
