Premier League round-up: The star men from Saturday’s action revealed

Bournemouth 0-4 Liverpool - Mohamed Salah - 10.0 rating

Mohamed Salah netted his first hat-trick of the campaign and in doing so against Bournemouth, the Liverpool star scored as many league goals as his previous six matches combined. The Egypt international scored his three goals from four shots, registered two key passes and completed five dribbles to earn a perfect WhoScored 10 rating against the Cherries. He moves to joint top scorer in the Premier League along with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on 10 goals.

Burnley 1-0 Brighton - James Tarkowski - 8.14 rating

James Tarkowski scored the only goal in the match at Turf Moor to hand Burnley their first league win since the end of September. Importantly, however, Burnley also recorded a clean sheet on Saturday, just their third of the season. As well as hitting the target twice at the other end, Tarkowski played an important part in restricting Brighton to just one shot on target all game. The 26-year-old won seven aerial duels and made five clearances, as well as alleviating any pressure on his side by winning two fouls.

Cardiff 1-0 Southampton - Callum Paterson - 7.91 rating

Callum Paterson’s second half strike ensured Ralph Hasenhuttl’s tenure as Southampton manager started with a defeat. The 24-year-old now has four league goals this season and Cardiff have moved up to 14th and four points clear of the bottom three. Paterson had four shots in total, registered two key passes and won eight aerial duels. He proved a real handful for Southampton’s defenders and won three fouls, while also completing a solitary dribble.

Arsenal 1-0 Huddersfield - Granit Xhaka - 8.16 rating

Granit Xhaka missed Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United through suspension in midweek but returned to the side this weekend with a WhoScored Man of the Match performance. The 26-year-old had three attempts on goal and registered two key passes, but impressively won seven aerial duels. Arsenal found it difficult to break Huddersfield down, only managing two shots on target but commendably prevented Huddersfield from testing Bernd Leno. Xhaka was the only player at the Emirates to manage more than 100 touches, while he also made the most tackles (5).

Manchester United 4-1 Fulham - Marcus Rashford - 8.94 rating

Manchester United recorded their biggest win of the season and moved up into sixth place courtesy of Marcus Rashford’s decisive performance. The 21-year-old set up United’s opening two goals before rounding off the win with his first goal in over a month in the second half. Rashford has now played a direct hand in five goals in his last three appearances. Rashford hit the target with four of his six shots and also completed three dribbles.

West Ham 3-2 Crystal Palace - Robert Snodgrass - 8.44 rating

Robert Snodgrass has really hit his groove in recent weeks for West Ham and has now won successive WhoScored Man of the Match awards. After supplying two assists against Cardiff in midweek, Snodgrass scored his first league goal of the season in a pulsating game at the London Stadium on Saturday. The 31-year-old also registered three key passes and as many dribbles against Palace and worked hard without the ball, making four tackles and interceptions combined.

Chelsea 2-0 Manchester City - Cesar Azpilicueta - 8.87 rating

Chelsea inflicted Manchester City’s first defeat of the Premier League campaign and impressively became the first side to stop them scoring since Liverpool in October. Cesar Azpilicueta was key to that, weighing in with 13 tackles - a record in a Premier League game this season. The Spain international also completed five interceptions, made two clearances and blocked two City shots from testing goalkeeper Kepa. The 29-year-old had the most touches of all Chelsea players (96) and also won two aerial duels.

Leicester 0-2 Tottenham - Dele Alli - 8.70 rating

Dele Alli scored his first Premier League goal away from home for the first time since the opening gameweek to help Tottenham retain third place in the league with a 2-0 win at Leicester. Alli scored from his only attempt but was a real menace all night. The 22-year-old completed six dribbles, at least three more than any other player on the pitch. Not only that, but Alli carried out his defensive work with aplomb, winning four tackles and interceptions combined.
