The Season So Far

Everton head into the weekend occupying a top-fourth berth but they have gone from leading the Premier League to trailing neighbourhood rivals Liverpool by three points in the blink of an eye. After starting the campaign with four straight wins in the league, Carlo Ancelotti's side are winless in three and have lost the last two to Southampton and Everton. At Goodison Park they have conceded two goals in three of the last four.

Manchester United's season feels like it's been on an endless loop on a rollercoaster. The Red Devils have only won two of their opening six matches and could be one place above relegation by the end of the weekend. They've managed hugely impressive wins over PSG and RB Leipzig in the Champions League but have also lost 6-1 at home to Tottenham and been terrible in defeats to Arsenal and Basaksehir since Sunday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be facing the sack if United lose three in a row on Saturday.

Team News

Everton will still be without Richarlison, who completes a three-match ban on Saturday, but are at least bolstered down their left-hand side by Lucas Digne's return from suspension. Seamus Coleman also appears to be on course to return to further reinforce Carlo Ancelotti's defensive options, with Jordan Pickford set to return in goal after a break last weekend. Andre Gomes is a doubt in midfield, while Ancelotti will be desperate to have star creator James Rodriguez available again after missing last weekend's defeat to Newcastle through injury.

Manchester United welcome back Anthony Martial from a three-match ban and he, and not Edinson Cavani, will lead the line for the Red Devils. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under pressure, we are expected to see a return of Fred and Scott McTominay in midfield, a duo he clearly trusts in big matches. It could see Paul Pogba drop to the bench, while Mason Greenwood will hope to return to the fold after appearing from the bench in midweek. Alex Telles is still recovering from COVID-19 and expected to miss out, while Victor Lindelof is nursing a back problem. Dean Henderson failed to take advantage of his big opportunity in midweek and David de Gea will return in goal.

Key Battle: James Rodriguez vs Bruno Fernandes

Premier League team news and prediction: Everton vs Man Utd

James Rodriguez was often linked with Manchester United when his time at Real Madrid was under scrunity only to end up at Everton and the Toffees are all the better for his arrival. The Colombia international has been immense for Everton right from the outset, with a direct hand in six goals in as many league appearances for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

His impact is similar to the one made by Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford. The Portugal international has been a revelation for United ever since joining in January and has already gone on to captain the side in Harry Maguire's absence. Fernandes hasn't been at his best so far this season but has notably still played a direct hand in five goals in six league games. Whoever takes control of the match will finish on the winning side.
