We run through today’s man of the match performances in the Premier League as Manchester City extended their lead and rivals United dropped points for the third league game running.

Shane Duffy - Huddersfield 1-2 Brighton

The Seagulls were forced to come from behind to take all three points and their centre-backs have consistently popped up with important goals this season, with Duffy adding his third of the campaign. Said strikes have directly earned Chris Hughton’s side five points this season, and the Irishman was his usual dominant self at the back, winning 11 aerial duels and completing 14 clearances for a rating of 8.61.

James McArthur - Crystal Palace 2-0 Burnley

It was a thoroughly deserved first home win of the season for the Eagles, with McArthur the star of the show against the Clarets, scoring his first goal of the campaign. The midfielder had five attempts at goal having failed to muster a single one in his last six league appearances and was instrumental in and out of possession. There key passes, two dribbles, three interceptions and five aerial duels won helped the Scotsman earn a rating of 8.96.

Ilkay Gundogan - Manchester City 3-1 Bournemouth

Starting back-to-back league matches for the first time since August, Gundogan netted his third goal in his last four outings in England’s top-flight to put the result against Bournemouth beyond doubt. The Germany international’s strike capped a fine all round performance, winning four tackles, creating two chances and completing 89 per cent of his passes for a rating of 8.22

 

 

Felipe Anderson - Newcastle 0-3 West Ham

While it was Chicharito that fired West Ham into a two-goal lead, Anderson completed the scoring to cap another impressive display. The Brazilian hit the target with both of his attempts at goal, created two chances but also chipped in with two tackles and two interceptions for a star man score of 8.44.

Ricardo Pereira - Leicester 2-0 Watford

While James Maddison’s superb strike was the highlight of the game, Pereira had a pivotal role to play in helping to keep a clean sheet. The Portuguese won six aerial duels, made three tackles, three interceptions and a remarkable 14 clearances for a full-back, securing a WhoScored.com rating of 8.63 in the process.

Ander Herrera - Southampton 2-2 Manchester United

The Spaniard bagged a rare goal to bring United back on level terms having fallen two down and was effective in and out of possession to justify his selection in the midfield. He helped regain the ball with two interceptions and an excellent seven tackles and was efficient with it too, completing 93 per cent of his passes for a rating of 8.39.
