Now the first batch of last-16 first leg ties are done and dusted, it's time to reveal our Champions League team of the week.
Austrian outfit Salzburg came agonisingly close to a shock 1-0 win over Bayern Munich only for the Bundesliga giants to level things up at the death.
Aside from that, there were few shocks with English teams Manchester City and Liverpool recording impressive away wins over Sporting CP and Inter, respectively, and PSG deservedly beating Real Madrid 1-0 in Paris.
Goalkeeper: Philipp Kohn (Salzburg) - 8.43 rating
Philipp Kohn picked the perfect game to turn in his best performance of the campaign to thwart Bayern Munich. The 23-year-old was eventually beaten at the death but he made eight saves and and four successful cross claims in a thoroughly impressive display between the sticks. He just edges Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois for a place in the side.
Right-back: Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain) - 7.40 rating
While Dani Carvajal was tormented at right-back for Real Madrid, Achraf Hakimi had a performance to savour against his old club. Tasked with pressing high up the pitch, Hakimi relished the challenge. The 23-year-old made four tackles, registered three key passes, completed 90% of his attempted passes and made two successful dribbles.
Centre-back: Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool) - 7.73 rating
Rotated into the team ahead of Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate certainly didn't disappoint. The 22-year-old was there to put out any fire Inter started alongside Virgil van Dijk. Konate won two aerial duels, six tackles and interceptions combined, one clearance and blocked two shots.
Centre-back: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) - 7.71 rating
Virgil van Dijk has gradually been getting back to his best after such a long time out injured and on Wednesday night he was a star performer for Liverpool. The 30-year-old weighed in with three interceptions, seven clearances and five aerial duels won to prevent Inter from having a single shot on target.
Left-back: Andy Robertson (Liverpool) - 8.24 rating
Liverpool's full-backs didn't get forward as often as they would have liked on Wednesday night but Andy Robertson turned to set-pieces to make his impact in the final third. It was from his corner that led to Liverpool's opener to take his tally for assists for the campaign to 10.
Right midfield: Riyad Mahrez (Man City) - 9.14 rating
Manchester City are basically already through to the next round after their 5-0 win away to Sporting CP on Tuesday. They were ruthlessly clinical in front of goal, scoring their five goals from just six shots on target. Mahrez kickstarted the rout with a simple finish before a nice bit of skill and cross set up Phil Foden for their third of the night. Mahrez registered four key passes overall, completed 92.1% of his attempted passes and won three dribbles.
Central midfield: Mohamed Camara (Salzburg) - 8.03 rating
Salzburg pushed Bayern Munich all the way for the 1-1 draw and Mohamed Camara had a standout night in midfield for the home side. The 22-year-old was made to work hard with Bayern fielding so many attacking players and he responded with eight tackles and interceptions combined and six dribbles completed of seven attempted.
Central midfield: Bernardo Silva (Man City) - 9.40 rating
Former Benfica academy graduate had a night to savour against old rivals Sporting, marking his return to Lisbon with two goals and one assist. He was denied his hat-trick by the offside flag. Silva scored from both of his attempts, registered two key passes in total and chipped in with three tackles.
Left wing: Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich) - 9.49 rating
Kingsley Coman edges out Raheem Sterling and Kylian Mbappe for a place on the left wing after a quite remarkable performance against Salzburg. Coman not only scored a late equaliser with his eighth shot of the game, but the France international registered four key passes and completed seven dribbles. Not only that, but Coman won more aerial duels against Salzburg (7) than his previous 18 appearances combined this seasona cross league and European competition (6).
Striker: Phil Foden (Man City) - 8.04 rating
Phil Foden made it goals in back-to-back games for the first time this season with a nice bit of composure to finish off Riyad Mahrez's cross in City's win over Sporting on Tuesday. The England international is having to adapt to being City's central striker at the moment but turned in another good performance from 60 minutes on the pitch. Foden completed all 25 of his passes in midweek.
Striker: Chukwubuike Adamu (Salzburg) - 7.43 rating
20-year-old Salzburg forward Chukwubuike Adamu couldn't quite believe he had put his side ahead against Bayern Munich in a Champions League knock-out tie. Introduced in the first half as a replacement for the injured Noah Okafor, Adamu grasped his opportunity with both hands. He had three shots, won three aerial duels, made two tackles and even disrupted Bayern's flow with six fouls. Moreover, he completed one dribble and registered two key passes.
