Manchester United hat-trick hero Martial makes European best XI

Liverpool's 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, coupled with Manchester City's 2-1 loss at Chelsea, last week was ultimately enough to secure their first Premier League title and it's no shock the Premier League player of the week, Fabinho, makes the grade in the European best XI. Manchester United and Barcelona are also represented as we round up the team of the week from Europe's top five leagues... 

Goalkeeper 

Antonio Mirante has been solid between the sticks since coming into the Roma XI and while he could do little to keep AC Milan out on Sunday, the Italian was a fine last form of defence in their 2-1 win over Sampdoria in midweek. Indeed, the experienced shotstopper makes the European team of the week with an average WhoScored rating of 7.74 from those two matches. 

Defenders 

It's an all-Bundesliga full-back pairing in the European team of the week, starting first with Union Berlin's creative star Christopher Trimmell. The experienced Autrian was solid in their 3-0 win over Fortuna Duesseldorf as he made eight clearances, six tackles and one interception to feature with a WhoScored rating of 8.22. 

On the opposite flank, Christian Gunter notched his seventh and eighth assists of the season as Freiburg saw out the campaign in style. Romping to a 4-0 win over lowly Schalke, Gunter chipped in with six key passes in all, a fine return from left-back, to help the defender to a WhoScored rating of 8.49. 

And at the heart of the defence, it's a Premier League duo, starting first with Michael Keane. The defender scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over basement boys Norwich as he features with a WhoScored rating of 9.29. 

Rounding off the backline is Keane's former Burnley teammate James Tarkowski. The Clarets star was essential at the back in narrow 1-0 wins over Watford and Crystal Palace to thrust Burnley up to eighth with Tarkowski earning an average WhoScored rating of 8.06 from those two victories. 

Midfielders 

Our player of the week comes from the Bundesliga, where Andrej Kramaric excelled in the final round of matches. The Hoffenheim star was excellent in their 4-0 win at Borussia Dortmund, where he scored all four, including a no-look penalty, to yield a perfect 10 WhoScored rating. 

Partnering Kramaric in the middle of the park, Fabinho was superb as Liverpool romped to a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, a goal that utimately sealed the Reds the Premier League title. The Brazilian scored his second goal and provided his second assist of the season in the routine home victory, while six tackles and three interceptions helped Fabinho to a WhoScored rating of 9.64. 

After securing man of the match awards in meetings with Athletic Club and Celta Vigo, Lionel Messi features on the right flank with an average WhoScored rating of 9.60 from the two games. The Argentine completed 14 dribbles and made 10 key passes, three of which culminated in an assist, in all in those two games to achieve such a high rating. 

Milot Rashica completes the midfield on the back of an excellent display in Werder Bremen's, where he garnered a WhoScored rating of 9.02. Werder romped to a 6-1 win over FC Koln to end the campaign outside of the relegation zone with Rashica netting once in the comfortable victory. 

Forwards 

Gian-Luca Waldschmidt has been courted by Chelsea of late and the German youngster gave a timely reminder of his talent with a brace in Freiburg's final day 4-0 win over Schalke. The 24-year-old may have struggled for regular game time this season, yet two goals was enough to make the cut with a WhoScored rating of 9.40. 

Anthony Martial rounds off the XI having bagged his first senior hat-trick of his career in Manchester United's 3-0 win over Sheffield United. The Frenchman was the first United player since Robin van Persie in 2013 to score a Premier League hat-trick and it means he features in this side with a WhoScored rating of 9.55.
