Manchester United up against it in big money Champions League double
After Liverpool and Tottenham took a significant step towards the Champions League semi-finals last night we’ve picked out a tip from each of tonight’s games which combine for big money double well worth considering.
Ajax vs Juventus
Having successfully dispatched of the reigning champions in the previous round, Ajax face another of the tournament favourites in the quarter-finals as underdogs once more. That will suit the Eredivisie outfit just fine, however, and just as they did against Real Madrid, Erik ten Hag’s side will look to play on the front foot tonight.
While their opposition in domestic competition is modest, the Dutch giants are a real threat to any side going forwards and have scored in all of their matches at the Amsterdam Arena this season.
Juventus, meanwhile, have found goals relatively hard to come by on the road of late, failing to score in three of their last seven away games. Two of a modest four goals in four games outside of Italy in the Champions League, meanwhile, have come from the penalty spot.
Max Allegri does have Cristiano Ronaldo back available, so it would be a shock if the visitors didn’t find the net against an Ajax defence that have kept just four clean sheets in their last 11 at home - having kept eight on the spin previous. A whopping price of 4.60 from Bet Victor on a score draw is incredibly tempting.
Manchester United vs Barcelona
That Barcelona are the favourites at Old Trafford comes as no surprise whatsoever, but the value in the away side to get the win is. You can double your money on the Spanish outfit to take a lead back to Camp Nou which, given United’s regression of late since that momentous win in Paris, is appealing enough.
Another of the more obvious bets on any Barcelona game, especially given his current form, is on Lionel Messi to find the net having done so in each of his last six appearances for the blaugrana. He’s remarkably priced up above evens to score at anytime with both Unibet and 888sport, while combining a Barcelona victory offers odds of 2.70.
That, however, isn’t the best value to be had tonight, with United having scored just one goal in their four home matches in the Champions League this season, with that a 91st minute winner from the now departed Marouane Fellaini. The price, then, on the away side to win to nil looks huge (3.75 with Sporting Bet), while the best bookie for the double - including a score draw in the game in the Netherlands - comes in at a mouthwatering 16.06 (15/1) with 888sport.
