Messi treble stretches lead in European form rankings while Son and Maddison climb
Having bagged his second LaLiga hat-trick in the space of a month the fact that Lionel Messi has strengthened his position at the top of our player form rankings.
The Argentine took his league tally to 12 with said treble against Mallorca, with ten of those strikes coming across his last six appearances.
Were it not for the brilliant Barcelona star Timo Werner would be top of the pile after yet another star showing for RB Leipzig. The Germany international earned a man of the match rating for the fourth time in his last five league appearances courtesy of a brace against Hoffenheim, having now scored nine goals and assisted five in said outings.

The Swede bagged a match-winning brace as the newly-promoted side continued to climb the table with victory over Koeln and now has five goals in his last four league appearances, whilst winning a whopping 18 aerial duels at the weekend.
Premier League pair Son Heung-Min and James Maddison are up to sixth and seventh respectively, with the former scoring a stunning solo goal against Burnley as well as registering his seventh assist of the campaign.
Meanwhile Sadio Mane claims ninth spot this week following a goal and two assists in the Merseyside derby in midweek before being handed a well-earned rest at the weekend.
Marcus Thuram is up to tenth following a man of the match showing as Gladbach strengthened their standing at the top of the Bundesliga. The summer signing completed nine dribbles as the Foals came from behind to beat champions Bayern.

Only ratings from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match carrying greater importance and so on. To qualify each player must have featured in two of the last three league matches and started at least six of the last eight available.
