A Borussia Dortmund star tops the U21 player form rankings, but it's not the one you're thinking of. In the Premier League, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are all represented in the top 10 in Europe with those who were 21 or under at start of the season all eligible.
10. Matteo Guendouzi (Arsenal)
Despite falling to a 1-0 loss at Sheffield United on Monday night, Matteo Guendouzi rises up the U21 player form rankings as he continues to impress in the Arsenal midfield. Indeed, a weighted rating of 7.09 from his last six outings is commendable with the French youngster proving his worth in this uninspiring Gunners side.
9. Yangel Herrera (Granada)
As Granada secured their fifth win of the season, a 1-0 victory at Levante's expense marked another solid showing from on-loan midfielder Yangel Herrera. A new qualifier in this ranking, the 21-year-old's WhoScored rating from his last six outings is 7.09, with a standout display coming in Granada's memorable 2-0 win over Barcelona
8. Federico Chiesa (Fiorentina)
Federico Chiesa's rating of 7.14 from his recent outings is a drop as the Italian fell to eighth in the top 10 standings. Fine performances against Atalanta, Sampdoria and AC Milan helps Chiesa keep his place in the rankings, but in earning a WhoScored rating of just 6.37 against Brescia in Monday night, his worst rated league performance of the campaign, sees him fall down the form leaderboard.
7. Martin Odegaard (Real Sociedad)
Similarly, Martin Odegaard drops down to seventh in the standings. Three successive sub-seven WhoScored rated performances means that, while his average rating of 7.22 over his last six appearances isn't to scoff at, it's a drop off in recent weeks.
6. Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund)
A familiar face in the rankings, albeit usually higher up the standings, Jadon Sancho rises to sixth in the U21 form rankings with his rating over his last six appearances remaining at 7.27 having played no part in the 1-0 win over Gladbach. One goal and two assists in his last four Bundesliga outings has helped push his rating as high as it is.
5. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
Dropping out of the top three and into fifth, a WhoScored rating of 6.50 in Liverpool's 1-1 draw at Manchester United means Trent Alexander-Arnold's average weighted rating over his last six appearances is 7.30. It's a drop of 0.24 as his fine performance in the Reds' 3-1 win over Arsenal is forced out of contention.
4. Lautaro Martinez (Inter)
After a man of the match display in Inter's 4-3 win at Sassuolo on Sunday, that enough to secure a spot in the European team of the week, Lautaro Martinez surges into fourth in the U21 form rankings. The Argentine is a new qualifier in the leaderboard and with a favourable run of games on the horizon, Martinez has the means to rise further.
3. Dejan Kulusevski (Parma)
A success story for Parma this season, Dejan Kulusevski has excelled following his loan arrival from Atalanta. His goal and two assists means he has had a direct hand in five goals in his last six Serie A outings with his excellent performance against Genoa at the weekend helping him rise to third.
2. Tammy Abraham (Chelsea)
Knocked off top spot in the U21 form rankings after firing a blank in Chelsea's 1-0 win over Newcastle, that isn't to heavily criticise Tammy Abraham's recent form, with the England international's WhoScored rating over his last six Premier League outings still a superb 7.61.
1. Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund)
Rocketing into top spot as a new qualifier, knocking Abraham off first in the process, is Borussia Dortmund ace Achraf Hakimi. Pushed forward in the 1-0 win over Gladbach, the Moroccan put in a man of the match display, his second successive Bundesliga award having shone in the 2-2 draw with Freiburg prior to the international break. Indeed, he tops the U21 form rankings with a superb weighted rating of 7.75.
Qualifying Rules
Only ratings from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match carrying greater importance and so on. To qualify each player must have featured in two of the last three league matches and started at least six of the last eight available.
