Revealed: The best individual performances of the 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign

Almost as quickly as it resumed, the 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign has now finished. Bayern Munich secured their eighth straight league title, with Paderborn and Fortuna Duesseldorf relegated. Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Gladbach secured Champions League football for next season, while Werder Bremen have a relegation play-off ahead to decide their top-flight future.

In terms of individual accolades, Bayern's Robert Lewandowski claimed the WhoScored Player of the Season award after winning the Golden Boot with an incredible haul of 34 goals in 31 appearances. The Poland international fended off competition from Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho for top spot.

But which players turned in the best individual performances of the season, statistically speaking? There were 12 instances of perfect WhoScored 10 ratings awarded in the Bundesliga in 2019/20. Ratings are capped at 10 but if we remove that limit a true order is revealed. Starting in reverse order, it is time to count down from six to one.

6. Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) vs Paderborn

Jadon Sancho only started four of Borussia Dortmund's nine league games after the restart as speculation of his future at the club intensified. The 20-year-old did, however, manage to score his first senior hat-trick in that time, with his treble coming in a 6-1 win away to bottom side Paderborn. Sancho didn't make an assist but it wasn't for a lack of trying, with the youngster registering five key passes. He also completed three dribbles and 92.2% of his attempted passes.

5. Ivan Perisic (Bayern Munich) vs Hertha Berlin

A broken ankle impacted Ivan Perisic's playing time on loan at Bayern Munich, as the winger made half of his 22 league appearances from the bench. Nevertheless, he still managed to turn in a perfect 10-rated performance in their 4-0 win at Hertha Berlin in January. Perisic scored one and assisted another in the rout. The 31-year-old won 20 aerial duels in total in the league, with seven of those coming against Hertha. Perisic also had seven shots. The Croat registered four key passes and completed three tackles.

4. Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) vs Fortuna Duesseldorf

Jadon Sancho is the only player to feature twice in the top-six, with his best performance of the Bundesliga campaign coming in a 5-0 win over relegated Fortuna Duesseldorf in December. The Manchester United target scored twice and provided one assist in the comfortable home victory. Sancho had a further two attempts at goal, registered five key passes and completed two dribbles. He finished the campaign scoring and assisted in nine separate league matches, the most of any player in Europe's top five leagues.

3. Filip Kostic (Eintracht Frankfurt) vs Augsburg

After losing Luka Jovic and Sebastien Haller last summer, it seemed inevitable Filip Kostic would be next to leave Frankfurt, yet the Bundesliga side have surprisingly managed to keep hold of the Serbian wing-back. Kostic has enjoyed another superb year, with his best performance of the season, and third best in the Bundesliga overall, coming in a 5-0 home win over Augsburg. Kostic played a direct hand in four of the goals (two goals, two assists) and completed four dribbles. The 27-year-old also was successful with four crosses and also as many tackles.

2. Philippe Coutinho (Bayern Munich) vs Werder Bremen

Philippe Coutinho's loan spell at Bayern Munich has ultimately been looked upon with relative disappointment but the Brazilian did at least offer a reminder of his qualities to his next employer in a 6-1 drubbing of Werder Bremen before Christmas. Coutinho remarkably played a direct hand in five of the goals, scoring only the second domestic hat-trick of his career in the process. The 28-year-old fired off eight shots in total, while also creating a further two goalscoring chances in addition to his two assists.

1. Timo Werner (RB Leipzig) vs Mainz 05

Claiming top spot is future Chelsea striker Timo Werner. The German striker became RB Leipzig's record scorer in his final game for the club on Saturday and also turned in the best statistical performance of the 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign in a 8-0 rout of Mainz in November. Werner actually scored hat-tricks in both appearances against Mainz this season, claiming a perfect WhoScored 10 rating in each, but it was the November fixture where he excelled most. Not only did Werner score a treble that day, but he also registered a hat-trick of assists, playing a direct hand in six of the eight goals scored. No player has scored or assisted more goals in a Bundesliga game since we started receiving Opta data for the 2009/10 campaign.
