Player Form Rankings: Change at the top while three England stars climb the table

After another round of fixtures, all four of Europe’s top five leagues now qualify for our form rankings of players to have made six appearances this season.

There’s a change at the top from last week too, with Neymar trading places with Lionel Messi after another brace at the weekend as PSG won comfortably against Patrick Vieira’s Nice. The Brazilian now has seven goals in as many games this season, with a further two assists meaning that he shares the lead in Europe in terms of direct goal contributions (nine).

Messi is the other player tied at the top in that regard, with five goals and four assists, though two of said strikes came before his last six appearances, meaning he drops to second in the form rankings.

Sergio Aguero climbs to third, with five goals and two assists this season each coming across his last six appearances, with Eden Hazard in fourth and Raheem Sterling up to fifth following a goal and assist against Brighton.

Cristiano Ronaldo has now turned provider more times than he has scored this season, though three goals and four assists over his last six Serie A matches is not to be scoffed at. He is followed closely by Suso, who scored twice in Milan’s 4-1 win at Sassuolo. Meanwhile scoring sensation Krzysztof Piatek also bagged a brace to take his tally for the season to eight since signing for Genoa, moving up to 11th, and Rodrigo de Paul of Udinese completes the contingent from Italy having now had a hand in six goals.

There’s strong representation from Ligue 1 too, notably in the form of former Chelsea youngster Bertrand Traore and Lille’s Nicolas Pepe, whose fifth goal of the season set his side on their way to a shock 3-0 win over Marseille to move to third.

Elsewhere Harry Maguire is the highest ranked defender (tenth) having picked up where he left off at the World Cup for Leicester, and is joined in the top 20 by new Foxes teammate James Maddison, who has scored or assisted a goal in five of his last six appearances.

Doubles from Harry Kane (14th) and Gylfi Sigurdsson (17th) saw the Premier League pair shoot onto the leaderboard, while Betis centre-back Marc Bartra and Celta Vigo hotshot Maxi Gomez are the only players beside Messi to place from La Liga.

Marco Reus (19th) is the sole Bundesliga representative after six matches in Germany’s top-flight, scoring a fourth goal of the season on Saturday as Dortmund came from behind to beat Bayer Leverkusen and jump to the top of the table at Bayern’s expense.
