Free-scoring Arsenal winger tops Premier League form standings

There's a new player atop the Premier League form rankings, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa all boasting two players each in the top 10. Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Brighton are also represented as we run through the standings.

10. Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa) - 7.42

The first of two Aston Villa players in the top 10, Emiliano Martinez's recent exploits between the sticks for the Villans has flown somewhat under the radar given Ollie Watkins' goal record of late, but the World Cup winner has been vital in Villa's rise up the Premier League table. Two of Martinez's three man of the match awards have come in his last three league outings having kept four clean sheets in his last six.

9. Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) - 7.47

A sub-par display by his standards in Arsenal's 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Sunday pushed Bukayo Saka down the ratings leaderboard to ninth. This meant a standout performance in Arsenal's 4-2 win at Aston Villa in February fell out of contention for Saka's form rating, which still stands at a notable 7.47.

8. Philip Billing (Bournemouth) - 7.47

Rising up above Saka into eighth is Bournemouth star Philip Billing, who like the Gunners man, boasts a form rating of 7.47. The Danish midfielder has scored seven league goals this season, three of which have come in his last six league outings for the Cherries, including key strikes in narrow wins over Liverpool and relegation rivals Leicester to boost Bournemouth's hopes of beating the drop.

7. Michael Olise (Crystal Palace) - 7.53

Michael Olise became the eighth player to earn a perfect WhoScored 10 rating in a Premier League match this season having registered a hat-trick of assists in Crystal Palace's 5-1 win at Leeds last weekend, and this has helped the Eagles star rise into seventh in the form rankings. That perfect 10 showing is a big reason why Olise boasts a form rating of 7.53 coming into the weekend's action.

6. Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) - 7.59

The second Aston Villa player in the top 10, Ollie Watkins keeps his place in sixth in the form standings having bagged his 12th league goal of the season in last weekend's 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Watkins has now been directly involved in a goal in 10 of his last 11 league outings, and he'll feel confident of maintaining this rich vein of form against Newcastle on Saturday.

5. Harry Kane (Tottenham) - 7.63

Another English striker in good form, Harry Kane rattled in his 23rd league goal of the campaign as Tottenham earned a contentious 2-1 win over Brighton last weekend. Kane earned his sixth man of the match award of the season in that victory, a return only two players can better in England's top tier this term, with the Spurs star ending the campaign strongly.

4. Solly March (Brighton) - 7.83

Dropping out of the podium places, Solly March still boasts an impressive WhoScored form rating of 7.83. March provided the assist for Lewis Dunk's goal at Tottenham last week to take the Seagulls star to six league assists for the campaign. The main reason for his drop to fourth is largely due to the form of those ahead of him on the leaderboard.

3. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - 7.85

Pipping March to third is Manchester City's creator-in-chief and the Premier League's best rated player. Kevin De Bruyne returned from international duty with a bang having been directly involved in three of City's last eight league goals, providing two assists, his 13th and 14th for the 2022/23 season. As the defending champions seek to chase down league leaders Arsenal, the Belgian's return to his best will prove key.

2. Jack Grealish (Manchester City) - 8.05

Another Manchester City man in the top 10, Jack Grealish has been creeping towards top spot for weeks now, and impressive outings in wins over Liverpool and Southampton, where he scored one and assisted another in the two victories, has helped return a WhoScored form rating of 8.05. Grealish had his critics in his first season at the Etihad Stadium, but he's been a vital cog for Pep Guardiola's side this term.

1. Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) - 8.06

The second Arsenal player to feature here, Gabriel Martinelli is presently the Premier League's form player. After a six-game run without a goal to kick off 2023, the Brazilian has been electric in front of goal in recent weeks. Indeed, Martinelli has been directly involved in a goal in seven of his last eight league outings, while three of his four best rated league performances this season have come in his last six appearances, with Martinelli doing all he can to fire Arsenal to the title.
