Sweden vs England Confirmed XIs: Southgate opts against changes for quarter-final clash

Gareth Southgate has resisted the urge to make any changes from the team that started Tuesday night's penalty shoot-out triumph over Colombia in the round of 16, meaning Dele Alli, Kyle Walker and Ashley Young have recovered from knocks. 

England are playing for a place in the last four of the 2018 World Cup and there were suggestions Southgate would look to freshen things up after watching his side go all the way to penalties against Colombia in midweek.

The Three Lions have struggled to create chances in open play this summer and it there were reports claming Alli's place in the team was under threat, but the Tottenham ace has been picked to start despite not looking completely fit.

Young hobbled off against Colombia but the 32-year-old is fit enough to start consecutive games in the space of five days, meaning Danny Rose will have to settle for another place on the bench against Sweden.

Walker was another doubt for the Three Lions, but he has recovered to ensure England's back three remains settled. Raheem Sterling has come in for criticism this summer but he keeps his place ahead of Manchester United's Marcus Rashford.

Sweden, meanwhile, has opted to tinker with their starting XI ahead of Saturday afternoon's quarter-final clash against England in Samara.

Seb Larsson returns to the fold after missing out against Switzerland last time out through suspension, regaining his place in favour of Gustav Svensson in central midfield. The latter drops back to the bench as Albin Ekdal has also recovered from a foot injury to start.

Sweden will, however, be without right-back Mikael Lustig, who is banned after collecting his second yellow card of the tournament last time out, meaning Bologna defender Emil Krafth makes his first start of the tournament.
