GOALKEEPER – DAVID DE GEA 

 

There wasn’t going to be any other player between the sticks after David De Gea’s heroics against Arsenal. The Spaniard, who featured in WhoScored.com’s Premier League team of the week, earned 23.00 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points, in part due to the Premier League record-equalling 14 saves made in Manchester United’s 3-1 win at the Emirates. 

 

DEFENDER – NICOLAS OTAMENDI 

 

Crossing the Manchester divide, Nicolas Otamendi has been a player reborn under Pep Guardiola. The Argentine had his critics last season, but has drawn countless admirers on the back of a superb campaign to date. He scored the equaliser in the 2-1 win over West Ham on Sunday and won four aerial duels, made four tackles, two interceptions and three clearances to return 16.70 points. 

 

DEFENDER – ANGELO OGBONNA 

 

Sticking with West Ham’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City, Angelo Ogbonna’s first half goal gave the Hammers an early advantage in their bid to upsets the odds at the Etihad Stadium. Despite ending up on the losing side, Ogbonna did enough to pick up 13.25 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points, with five clearances, two aerial duels won and a 87.5% pass success rate contributing to that. 

 

DEFENDER – MARTIN OLSSON 

 

Swansea took the initiative against Stoke, but failed to hold on and succumbed to a 2-1 loss at the weekend. Martin Olsson provided the assist for Wilfried Bony’s opening goal, that coming from one of three key passes. All in all, the Swans defender earned 10.25 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points at the bet365 Stadium. 

 

MIDFIELDER – JESSE LINGARD 

 

Manchester United countered ruthlessly at Arsenal on Saturday evening, with Jesse Lingard bagging a brace to make it three goals and one assist in his last two Premier League starts. The England international also made three tackles in north London to return a WhoScored rating of 8.35 and 25.75 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

 

MIDFIELDER – EMRE CAN 

 

Emre Can was called upon to play at centre-back alongside Dejan Lovren and Georginio Wijnaldum in Liverpool’s 5-1 win at Brighton and excelled at the back, earning himself 17.20 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. The German opened the scoring on the half hour mark and ended the victory with a 93.3% pass success rate, six aerial duels won and three interceptions 

 

MIDFIELDER – PHILLIPE COUTINHO 

 

Like Can, Philippe Coutinho excelled in Liverpool’s 5-1 thumping of Brighton. The Brazilian earned a perfect WhoScored rating of 10 having chipped in with two assists and one goal. With an additional three key passes and five dribbles, Coutinho picked up 26.95 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

 

MIDFIELDER – EDEN HAZARD 

 

Having earned more Yahoo! Fantasy Football points (36.85) than any other Premier League player in gameweek 15, Eden Hazard was exceptional in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Newcastle. The Belgian bagged a brace and churned out 10 successful dribbles to return a WhoScored rating of 10.

UTILITY – DAVID SILVA 

 

David Silva scored the decisive goal in Manchester City’s 2-1 win over West Ham to maintain the eight-point gap between themselves and Manchester United. The Spaniard’s goal came from one of four shots and he could have had himself an assist having made five key passes in the victory to gain 19.55 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

 

FORWARD – ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE 

 

Alexandre Lacazette was a surprise inclusion in Arsenal’s starting XI against Manchester United on Saturday as the Frenchman was expected to be sidelined for the welcome of Jose Mourinho’s side. Lacazette, while on the losing side, netted what proved to be a consolation goal, yet has now scored more home goals (6) than any other Premier League player this season. His input saw him earn 22.05 points with Yahoo! Fantasy Football.  

 

FORWARD – ROBERTO FIRMINO 

 

Roberto Firmino is looking to get back to his best form in the Premier League and showed signs of his quality at Brighton, where the Brazilian netted twice. The Liverpool ace scored two goals from three shots and defended well from the front, making two tackles and three interceptions to earn 24.50 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points.
