Thorgan Hazard outshining Eden as most in form player in Europe

There is significant change atop the European player form rankings this week, with a new leader taking top spot.

While Eden Hazard ruled the roost in the early weeks and months of the season, the Chelsea man (now 13th) has been usurped by younger brother Thorgan.

The Gladbach forward has fired his side into second in the Bundesliga and another goal and assist in victory over Hannover took the 25-year-old ahead of his sibling in both categories, with eight and five respectively.

He is joined on the podium by fellow Bundesliga stars Luka Jovic (second) and Sebastien Haller (third), whose strike partnership has seen Frankfurt rocket to third in Germany’s top-flight after a disappointing start to the season.

The former wasn’t on the scoresheet in the 3-1 win at Augsburg but did assist the latter for his ninth league goal of the campaign, with the Frenchman having earlier picked up an assist of his own. Between the deadly duo they have 14 goals and six assists in over their last six league outings respectively.

Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling is the highest ranked player outside of the Bundesliga, in fourth, after a goal and assist in the win at West Ham, taking his tallies to four and five respectively over his last six league matches, while Cristiano Ronaldo completes the top five.

The Portuguese’s goal tally continues to tick along nicely in Serie A, adding another against SPAL at the weekend to take his tally to nine. It was also the tenth consecutive league game running in which the Juventus star has had a direct hand in at least one goal.

David Silva and Fernandinho both keep their places on the leaderboard alongside Sterling, while there is a return for Mohamed Salah, who has now scored in four of his last five appearances.

Schalke’s Daniel Caligiuri is the highest riser into the top 20, registering two assists in a 5-2 win over Nuernberg, while Luis Suarez suffered the biggest drop from the previous leaderboard, from ninth to 31st after an abject display at Atletico.

QUALIFYING RULES

Only ratings taken from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match highest and so on. To qualify each player must have featured in their side’s last league game and started at least six of the last eight available.
