What's at stake?
With Liverpool breathing down the neck of both, neither can afford to slip up on Tuesday night or risk losing their place in the top four and potential Champions League football next season.
Leicester currently occupy third place, three points ahead of fifth-place Liverpool, while Chelsea are only two clear of the Reds. Defeat for either side would let Liverpool back in and Leicester will certainly feel the more confident of the two after beating them in the FA Cup final at the weekend. They are also unbeaten in their last six Premier League matches against the Blues.
Team News
Chelsea have a full squad available following the return of Mateo Kovacic, though he may only make the bench after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Thomas Tuchel will make some changes from the FA Cup final, with Edouard Mendy, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Ben Chilwell all hoping to start on Tuesday night.
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers is forced into one change with Jonny Evans unavailable after limping out of their FA Cup final win. Timothy Castagne could drop into a back three, with Marc Albrighton coming in to the side on the wing, as they did at Wembley. Moreover, James Maddison was surprisingly benched for the FA Cup final but should come back into the side here.
Probable XIs
Chelsea (3421): Mendy; James, Silva, Rudiger; Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Kante, Chilwell; Mount, Pulisic, Havertz
Leicester (3412): Schmeichel; Castagne, Fofana, Soyuncu; Albrighton, Ndidi, Tielemans; Thomas; Maddison; Vardy, Iheanacho
Key Battle: Edouard Mendy vs Kasper Schmeichel
There was simply nothing stand-in Kepa could do to prevent Youri Tielemans' match winner but Thomas Tuchel will recall first-choice Edouard Mendy with the Champions League potentially on the line. Mendy hasn't gone without his own sketchy moments but has otherwise been a revelation for Chelsea this season. He has kept 24 clean sheets in 41 matches in all competitions this season, with a return of 13 in 20 appearances under Tuchel.
Tielemans stole the headlines for his stunning match-winner at Wembley but Kasper Schmeichel's saves late on were equal to 30-yard screamers. He produced a great reflex save to deny Ben Chiwell from scoring against his boyhood club before showing wrists of steel to divert Mason Mount's thunderous effort wide. Schmeichel has kept five fewer clean sheets (11) than Mendy in the Premier League this season but has not made an error leading to an opposition goal all season and averages more saves per game (2.3) than his counterpart (1.9).
Scoreline Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Leicester
