Bayern Munich's Harry Kane one of five Bundesliga stars in Europe's best signing XI

With August’s action complete and the first international break of the season well underway, we take a look at the top performing XI among new signings in Europe’s top five leagues. 

Guglielmio Vicario (Tottenham Hotspur) – 7.11 

Spurs’ new number one appears to have settled into life in the Premier League almost immediately, his performances so far have earned him a WhoScored rating of 7.11, ranking him as the league’s fourth best goalkeeper this season. The Italian’s standout display thus far came in the 2-0 home win over Manchester United, where he made six saves, while maintaining a pass success rate of 91.9%. 

Joakim Maehle (VFL Wolfsburg) – 7.13

Danish international Joakim Maehle, who made the move to Germany in early August after two seasons in Serie A with Atalanta, has impressed in his first three appearances for Die Wolfe. Maehle has so far made 14 tackles and interceptions combined, while contributing offensively with four key passes and four successful dribbles. 

Wilfried Singo (AS Monaco) – 7.71 

Singo, a product of Torino’s youth academy, joined Monaco last month for a reported €10 million. Despite missing Monaco’s first Ligue 1 fixture, the 22-year-old looks to have cemented his place in Adi Hutter’s side, and his 7.71 WhoScored rating currently ranks him first among central defenders in France’s top-flight. Playing every minute since he arrived, Singo has made six tackles, eight interceptions and six clearances, along with an impressive five key passes. 

Maximilian Wober (Borussia Monchengladbach) – 7.03 

Despite only signing for Leeds United in January, Austrian defender Maximilian Wober has since found himself a new club, following the English side’s relegation at the end of last season. The 25-year-old, who has moved to Germany initially on loan, has made 20 tackles and interceptions so far, as well as 13 clearances – as Gerardo Seoane’s men continue to search for their first victory of the campaign. 

Lucas Hernandez (Paris Saint-Germain) – 7.11 

French international Lucas Hernandez swapped German champions Bayern Munich for their French counterparts Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and has started every game under new manager Luis Enrique thus far. His pass success rate of 92.1%, six key passes, nine tackles and interceptions and one assist earn him a WhoScored rating of 7.11. 

Jonas Hofmann (Bayer Leverkusen) – 8.13

31-year-old winger Jonas Hofmann made the switch to Bayer Leverkusen from league rivals Borussia Monchengladbach this summer and has so far made an instant impact under Xabi Alonso. His one goal and two assists in three matches, along with 10 key passes provided land him a WhoScored rating of 8.13 - ranking him as the fourth best player in the Bundesliga this season. 

Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) – 8.26 

English midfielder Jude Bellingham could have hardly hoped for a better start to life in the Spanish capital than the one he has made so far. The 20-year-old has scored in each of his first four La Liga matches and grabbed the winner in his last two. His outstanding displays under Carlo Ancelotti earn him a WhoScored rating of 8.26, making him the highest rated player in Spain this season. 

James Maddison (Tottenham Hotspur) – 8.08 

Many will now be lauding Spurs’ business over the summer months, and the signing of James Maddison looks to be the pick of the bunch so far. Under the newly-appointed Ange Postecoglou, the former Leicester midfielder has settled straight into life in north London, with four goal contributions in his first four matches to land him a WhoScored rating of 8.08 – the highest in the Premier League this season. 

Victor Boniface (Bayer Leverkusen) – 8.59 

After grabbing seven goals and seven assists for Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise last term, it was Bayer Leverkusen who came calling for Nigerian striker Victor Boniface this summer. And the 22-year-old has hit the ground running in Germany with a remarkable four goals and two assists in his first three Bundesliga matches. His WhoScored rating of 8.59 makes him not only the highest rated new signing this season, but the highest rated of any player in Europe’s top five leagues. 

Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) – 7.73

A near summer-long transfer saga later, and Harry Kane finally made the move to Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich after 10 hugely successful seasons at Tottenham. As many expected, the England captain picked up where he had left off in the Premier League, scoring and assisting on his Bundesliga debut in a 4-0 win over Werder Bremen. Kane followed that up with a further two goals in his first home appearance, to make it four goal contributions in three games so far, which gives him an overall WhoScored rating of 7.73.
