With the January transfer window now open, we look at a host of players to invest in this week who could see their share value rise over the coming days, while we have a number of La Liga stars who may win you some money with Football INDEX.
BUY – DIEGO COSTA (ATLETICO MADRID)
After his return to Atletico Madrid was officially announced, Diego Costa made the ideal impact on his second debut for Los Colchoneros. The Spain international was introduced midway through the second half in Atletico’s 4-0 Copa Del Rey over Lleida in midweek and netted five minutes after his introduction.
To cap it off, Costa sustained a minor knock and managed to find himself in the centre of a on-pitch scuffle… it was as though he’d never left! His share price has been gradually rising in recent weeks, but he’s still available at £2.35 per share on Football INDEX and that should only rise as he looks to get back to his best. Atletico have won their last seven home league meetings with Getafe, who they face at midday on Saturday, and he could be one to invest in sooner rather than later.
BUY – LUCAS MOUSA (PSG)
Ligue 1 may not resume until next week, but that isn’t to say it’s worth avoiding any players in France’s top tier. Lucas Moura has been heavily linked with a January move away from PSG due to a lack of regular game time in the wake of Neymar’s summer arrival. The 25-year-old winger has totalled just 72 minutes of league action this season, yet has one goal and one assist to his name in a short space of time.
A long-term target for Manchester United, Moura has again been linked with a move to the Premier League side this month and with rumours boosting a player’s share price, you shouldn't immediately discount the Brazilian. Available at £1.33 per share, he’s one player on Football INDEX you’d be foolish to overlook.
BUY – RYAN SESSEGNON (FULHAM)
Like Moura, Ryan Sessegnon is another who has been heavily linked with a Premier League switch this month, with the Fulham star in flying form of late. A brace and assist in the Whites’ 4-1 win over Ipswich in midweek saw the teenage star land the WhoScored man of the match award while rumours of a move to Manchester United and Tottenham, with PSG also entering the race to secure his services, has pushed his share price up to £1.75 on Football INDEX.
While the Championship takes a break for the weekend due to the FA Cup third round, it won’t dampen speculation linking the 17-year-old with a move away from Craven Cottage before the close of the January transfer window. He may be a tad pricy, but Sessegnon is one to monitor over the coming days.
BUY – JONATHAN VIERA (LAS PALMAS)
Las Palmas have flattered to deceive this season, with the club mired in the relegation zone. However, the New Year has signalled a change at the helm for the Spanish outfit, with the revered Paco Jemez now in charge and hoping to make an immediate impact against Eibar at the weekend. Las Palmas are unbeaten in back-to-back home matches and will look to impress Jemez on Saturday.
Jonathan Viera is undoubtedly the key man for Las Palmas, with the Spaniard making more key passes (50) than any other La Liga player this season. The 28-year-old may have just two goals and three assists to his name, but he’s a bargain buy on Football INDEX at £0.92 per share. Under new management, Viera should be top of your investment list if you’re looking to buy low and sell high.
BUY – STEVEN N’ZONZI (SEVILLA)
Having been seemingly on the cusp of a Premier League move this month, Steven N’Zonzi is now expected to stay at Sevilla, at least for the time being. Under new management with Vincenzo Montella in charge, the French midfielder is expected to regain his spot in the side and is in line to make his first La Liga start since mid-November.
It’s a baptism of fire for Montella, whose first league game at the Roman Sanchez Pizjuan comes in Saturday’s Derbi sevillano as Sevilla welcome cross-town rivals Real Betis. Should N’Zonzi play to his full potential, Sevilla have a stronger chance of securing all three points and with a share price of just £1.10 on Football INDEX, the 29-year-old is one to watch ahead of the weekend.
