After running through the highest risers on Thursday, we look at five players to buy in this World Cup special.
Hirving Lozano - Mexico (BUY)
Mexico earned something of a favourable draw at the World Cup and El Tri will be confident of earning a spot in the last-16 when they come up against Germany, Sweden and South Korea. The latter pair have struggled in recent months and Mexico should have no issues in dispatching the duo in their pursuit of a knockout stage spot. Key to that will be Hirving Lozano, who comes into the tournament off the back of a super debut season in Europe.
'Chucky' played a vital role in PSV’s title success, scoring 17 and registering eight assists to return a WhoScored.com rating of 7.90, the third best in the Eredivisie last season. The 22-year-old has already attracted Premier League interest after his blistering start to life in the Netherlands and a buy price of £2.48 per share on Football INDEX could turn a nice profit. Indeed, if he excels in Russia, Lozano’s share price will only increase.
Rodrigo Bentancur - Uruguay (BUY)
If Uruguay win their group, they should have a favourable route to the quarter-finals of the World Cup and Oscar Tabarez has a squad more than capable of upsetting the odds this summer. As the longest serving head coach in Russia, Uruguay are a settled squad with plenty of top-flight talent running through the team. 20-year-old Rodrigo Bentancur is set to start in Tabarez’s side this summer and for good reason too.
The youngster may have struggled for regular game time in Turin last season, yet a return of 83.5 passes per 90 was the fifth best in Serie A of those to have made 20 or more league appearances. It reinforces a statistically calculated WhoScored.com strength of ‘passing’ and he’ll be one of the players to set the tempo for Uruguay this summer. His buy price has increased 15.44% on Football INDEX over the last seven days and at £1.53 per share, Bentancur is certainly one to consider for your portfolio.
Christian Cueva - Peru (BUY)
The big news surrounding Peru last week was the availability of Paolo Guerrero, who saw his doping ban temporarily lifted by FIFA. He’ll look to maintain his fine international record in Russia with the help of Christian Cueva in support. The 26-year-old has scored three goals and registered nine assists since the start of the 2017 Brasileirao season and the number 10 will hope to carry that fine club form to the international stage.
With Guerrero occupying opposition defenders, Cueva has the chance to exploit any space vacated by the experienced forward in Russia and he could prove to be the lynchpin in Peru’s attack at the World Cup. He has a lowly buy price of £0.70 per share on Football INDEX and may be a handy money maker this summer.
Pione Sisto - Denmark (BUY)
Sticking with Group C and this time with Peru’s rivals Denmark. The Danes haven’t lost a non-FIFA recognised match since 2016 coming into the tournament and there is plenty of Premier League talent within the squad in the form of Christian Eriksen, Andreas Christensen and Kasper Schmeichel, all of whom are expected to start this summer.
However, it’s a La Liga star who could help turn a profit on Football INDEX over the coming weeks. 23-year-old Pione Sisto comes into the World Cup on the back of a notable season for Celta Vigo having scored five and assisted nine in Spain’s top tier last term. His buy price is currently a lowly £1.31 per share, but that could rise if he enjoys a fine showing in Russia. He’s already been linked with a Premier League move and rumours of a switch will only increase if he impresses.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic - Serbia (BUY)
There is plenty of interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and it’s easy to see why. The young Lazio star is arguably the hottest midfield talent in Europe and on the back of a campaign that saw him score 12 and register three assists, the Serbian’s list of admirers grows with each passing day. Lazio’s failure to land a Champions League spot will see interest in his signature grow over the coming weeks and a solid World Cup showing will allow the Serie A side to hike up the fee.
He’s rather expensive on Football INDEX at £3.70 per share, but the buy price has dipped 2.22% over the last seven days. Milinkovic-Savic is set to play a key role for Serbia this summer in Mladen Krstajic’s favoured 4-2-3-1 setup and he can expect ample chances to score in the number 10 role. As the days tick by, the 23-year-old’s buy price should rise and it’s key to jump on that before the rumour mill really kicks into gear.
