Napoli reduce asking price for Manchester City target Koulibaly

Manchester City have received a welcome boost in pursuit of top defensive target Kalidou Koulibaly with Napoli now asking for £65m, claims The Daily Mirror.

Pep Guardiola has made signing a new centre-back a top priority this summer after relinquishing the Premier League title to Liverpool.

Liverpool wrapped up their first ever Premier League title in record time and City are expected to spend big this summer to close the gap.

City decision not to sign a replacement for Vincent Kompany last summer proved costly but they plan to ammend.

Koulibaly has been made City's top transfer target as a result with Napoli willing to cash in on the centre-back to fund their move for Lille's Victor Osmihen.

It was only last summer Napoli were chasing in the region of £100m for Koulibaly but now they have made the 29-year-old available for a fraction of the price.

Koulibaly has been limited to just 19 league starts for Napoli this summer but is still regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Europe.

Surprisingly, however, Napoli have actually fared better in Serie A this season when Koulibaly hasn't started (57.1%) compared to when he has (36.8%).
