Newcastle are close to agreeing a £60m deal to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, reports the Telegraph.
Guehi starred for England at Euro 2024, forging a solid centre-back partnership with John Stones as the Three Lions made it to the final.
The 24-year-old has been a star performer for Palace since his arrival from Chelsea in 2021, and his stock has risen significantly in recent months.
Guehi had previously been linked with moves to Manchester United and Tottenham in January but the pair were put off by Palace's high asking price.
However, the Magpies are closing in on the England international and will look to wrap up the signing of the defender sooner rather than later.
A lack of strength of depth proved costly for Newcastle last season, particularly at centre-back with Fabian Schar and Sven Botman their standout performers at the back.

Eddie Howe's side have already added a new body in defence following the free signing of Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth, while Lewis Hall's loan move has been made permanent.
Palace are keen to retain Guehi's services following the high-profile departure of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich, while fellow key man Eberechi Eze has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park this summer.
