Manchester United will make a staggering £30m bid for Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin in January, according to The Sun.
Godin, 30, has widely been regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe for the last three seasons and Jose Mourinho is desperate to add leaders and winning mentality to his feeble side.
United have been a poor start to life under Mourinho and the former Chelsea boss is already planning for future signings despite spending more than £150m in the summer.
Mourinho will also look to axe a number of United players over the next two transfer windows with the likes of Matteo Darmian, Memphis Depay and Marcos Rojo among eight players that will reportedly be sold.
Any deal to sign the Atletico star would seem unlikely in January, but United will hope the size of the deal will be too good to turn down as the Uruguay international turns the wrong side of 30.
In the last three La Liga campaigns Godin has completed more headed clearances than any other player (255).
