Rising Real Madrid star makes best rated U21 XI in Europe

 

Here we run through the best WhoScored rated XI from the weekend's action in Europe's top five leagues, comprised of players aged 21 and under.

 

Goalkeeper: Aaron Ramsdale (Bournemouth) - 7.60 rating

 

Bournemouth slipped to a 2-1 defeat away to Newcastle on Saturday but had goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to thank for keeping them in the game. Ramsdale made seven saves and successfuly claimed one cross at St. James' Park.

 

Right-back: Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Manchester United) - 7.54 rating

 

Aaron Wan-Bissaka turned in a typically solid defensively display on Sunday, as Manchester United ran out comfortable 3-1 winners at home to Brighton. Wan-Bissaka made eight tackles and interceptions combined and won two aerial duels.

 

Centre-back: Alessandro Bastoni (Inter) - 7.66 rating

 

Alessandro Bastoni makes our best rated XI for the first time after impressing in Inter's 2-1 win over Verona on Saturday. Antonio Conte's side came from behind to keep the pressure on Serie A leaders Juventus and Bastoni made the most of just his fifth league start of the campaign. The 20-year-old centre-back remarkably made four key passes against Verona, while managing four tackles and interceptions combined.

 

Centre-back: Benoit Badiashile (Monaco) - 7.72 rating

 

Monaco bounced back from last weekend's defeat with a 1-0 win over Dijon on Saturday, with 18-year-old defender Benoit Badiashile turning in a thoroughly impressive display at the back. The teenager won five aerial duels and made four tackles and interceptions combined, as well as four clearances to help Monaco keep a clean sheet.

 

Left-back: Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich) - 8.72 rating

 

Alphonso Davies continues to go from strength-to-strength in his unfamiliar role of left-back for Bayern Munich despite the fact the Bundesliga giants changed manager a week ago. Bayern ran out 4-0 winners against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday and Davies excelled. The 19-year-old chipped in with nine tackles and interceptions combined; completed 93.6% of his passes and managed three successful dribbles.

 

Central midfield: Eduardo Camavinga (Rennes) - 8.19 rating

 

Eduardo Camavinga is the youngest representative in our XI at the age of just 17. The teenage midfielder is already a mainstay in Rennes' midfield and has been bossing things for the Ligue 1 outfit this season. Against Amiens on Sunday, Camavinga made 10 tackles and interceptions combined and alleviated pressure on his team by winning four free-kicks.

 

Central midfield: Federico Valverde (Real Madrid) - 8.51 rating

 

Zinedine Zidane didn't get to strengthen Real Madrid's midfield as he would have liked in the summer but that has only benefited Federico Valverde, who has caught the eye in recent weeks for the Spanish outfit. The 21-year-old played another important role in their routine 4-0 win away to Eibar, netting his first senior goal for the club. Valverde also won seven tackles and interceptions combined.

Central midfield: Imran Louza (Nantes) - 8.10 rating

 

Imran Louza, who makes our best rated U21 XI for the first time, is one of two Nantes youngsters in the team following their five-goal thriller with Saint-Etienne on Sunday. Nantes eventually fell to defeat but Louza did net his first senior goal. The 20-year-old also registered two key passes, won four fouls and completed five tackles and interceptions combined.

 

Right wing: Ludovic Blas (Nantes) - 8.37 rating

 

After failing to play a direct hand in a goal in his first eight league appearances of the season, Ludovic Blas scored one and assisted another for Nantes on Sunday. The 21-year-old had three shots and registered two key passes in total, while also completing five dribbles and winning three fouls to finish as the WhoScored Man of the Match against Saint-Etienne.

 

Striker: Dusan Vlahovic (Fiorentina) - 8.32 rating

 

Fiorentina were dealt a heavy 5-2 defeat to high-flying Cagliari on Sunday but it was at least a promising afternoon for 19-year-old striker Dusan Vlahovic. The teenager scored both of Fiorentina's goals, his first in 18 league appearances for the club. Vlahovic netted twice from four attempts, while also registering three key passes and winning four fouls.

 

Left wing: Dwight McNeil (Burnley) - 9.05 rating

 

Leaving the best until last, Burnley's Dwight McNeil finished the weekend's action as the highest WhoScored rated player aged 21 and under in Europe's top five leagues. Burnley beat West Ham 3-0 on Sunday, with McNeil playing a lead role. The 19-year-old registered one assist in the victory but created four goalscoring chances in total. The reported Manchester United target also completed six dribbles.
